Season 5 of the American Western crime drama TV series “Longmire” streamed on Netflix last month and talks about the show’s Season 6 have been internet fodder since.
While Netflix has yet to confirm “Longmire” for Season 6, the production team and the fans seem to be too confident that it would be forthcoming and that the approval or confirmation of renewal is just a matter of time.
In fact, the show’s Twitter handle posted on October 23 saying that “Longmire” is definitely ready for the renewal announcement from Netflix, reports the Parent Herald.
The suspense of Netflix’s announcement has really kept the fans eager about the fate of “Longmire” during its off-season, indicative of how popular the TV series is.
Loyal fans and viewers of the TV series are also too confident that a Season 6 of “Longmire” is forthcoming because the Season 5 finale left several cliffhangers that deserve an all-new season, cites Movie News Guide.
Viewers want to see more episodes of “Longmire” obviously and the superb rating of its fifth season is a great indication that Netflix would officially give it a Season 6 soon.
That’s in addition to the fact that “Longmire” has constantly trended on Twitter while it was airing its Season 5 last month, indicative that it has a huge following and fans are supporting the TV series, short of telling Netflix that the drama is worth renewing for another season.
Will Walt and Vic go for it?
For the fans of “Longmire,” they wanted to know whether Walt Longmire, played by Robert Taylor, and his deputy Vic Moriarty, played by Katee Sackhoff, would go for the brewing romance between them as noted in Season 5.
They would also like to know what will happen to Henry Standing Bear, played by Lou Diamond Philips, a fan-favorite character, considering that he seems to have betrayed the trust of Walt.
Back in Season 5, it has become clear that Walt and Vic are starting to be drawn to each other because they can no longer hide their respective feelings.
However, they are both skeptical to make a go of it because of various reasons aside from situational conflicts.
Season 5 also saw Dr. Donna Sue Monaghan, played by Ally Walker, making a graceful exit on “Longmire,” which critics believe as a good move because it still opens up the possibility that she might return.
Another thing that was highly commended was the mystery of Donna’s kidnapping which was tastefully and remarkably done even though viewers were led to think initially that Walt was to blame. But the final episode eventually cleared Walt about it.
Sustaining the show’s good run
With the way the showrunners set up the storylines of the Season 5 finale of “Longmire,” it seems imminent that they are aware that Netflix would renew the show for a sixth season.
Critics believe that with the way the cliffhangers were meticulously incorporated in the Season 5 finale, it would be foolish of Netflix not to renew the show for another season.
More importantly, the fact that Season 5 of “Longmire” actually brought huge subscribers to Netflix only means that the streaming service would like nothing but to sustain the good run of the TV series.
In fact, it was the very same reason why Netflix picked up “Longmire” from A&E after the latter canceled it at the end of Season 3 despite doing very well in its ratings.
Netflix has yet to confirm if indeed Season 5 of “Longmire” did bring a good subscriber base to the streaming service or whether it outperformed the Season 4 figures. Regardless whether the fifth season of the show matched or surpassed the ratings and subscriber number during the TV series’ fourth season, it is still good news for Netflix and also “Longmire.”
There are reports coming out as of late that Netflix has decided to stop streaming “Bloodline” after it airs its Season 3 sometime next year.
