Season 5 of the Western crime drama TV series “Longmire” will be airing on Netflix less than one month from now, or on September 23 to be exact, and most of the speculations about the hit show is on whether sheriff Walt Longmire, played by Robert Taylor, and his deputy Vic Moriarty, played by Katee Sackhoff, will have a romantic relationship.
Based on the book of Craig Johnson which happens to be the source material for the TV series, Walt and Vic ended up as a romantic pair.
However, there has been no confirmation yet from the showrunners, the cast of characters, or the network itself whether the romance of Walt and Vic would materialize in Season 5 of “Longmire.”
It can be recalled that back in Season 4, the eyes and attention of Walt were with Dr. Donna Sue Monaghan, played by Ally Walker. In fact, during the season finale, they were having that romantic interlude at Donna Sue’s home when an intruder suddenly interrupted it.
The speculations are saying that Dr. Donna Sue Monaghan would not last long in the TV series and Walt will end up redirecting his romantic attention to his deputy eventually.
However, some fans and critics are saying that it is possible that the show could just be misdirecting or misleading fans on the plotline of “Longmire” Season 5 especially when Katee Sackhoff posted a photo on her Instagram showing her character and Walt looking into a case, notes the Parent Herald.
She even captioned the image by saying so close yet seems so far away, which could be an indication of her character’s platonic relationship with her boss.
It would seem that the two would be working more together on plenty of cases in the upcoming Season 5 and that has been the reason why the rumors about their impending romantic relationship began.
While some fans are rooting for the Walt-Vic romance in “Longmire” Season 5, others do not favor the May-December affair because of the glaring age difference between the two.
Friends at odds with each other
There are also reports saying that with the recent revelations made by actor Lou Diamond Philips, his character in the show Henry Standing Bear, might be at odds with his best friend, Walt Longmire, cites the Christian Post.
In an interview, Phillips disclosed that his character Henry Standing Bear might cut some sort of a deal with his captor Mathias, played by actor Zahn McClarnon, in order to avoid going to jail.
Henry could certainly be more of use to the tribal police and use his power in a way that could be similar to a Dungeons & Dragons analogy. But whether he agrees to the deal with Mathias or not would really be an interesting thing to watch out in “Longmire” Season 5 since it would have a telling impact on his relationship with his good old friend Sheriff Walt.
The “La Bamba” actor also said that Henry shall be continuing his dual role as Hector, which is a sort of vigilante or justice-bringer for the reservation. But that would certainly affect his friendship with Walt because the town’s sheriff would not approve of such ways for sure.
Reports have it that the conflict between Henry and Walt shall become one of the fascinating facets of “Longmire” Season 5 since both characters think that they are doing the right thing in their own minds.
Optimistic of the show beyond Season 5
There have been rumors saying that the upcoming Season 5 of “Longmire” shall be the last for the show.
