A new character will be making life difficult for Walt Longmire, played by Robert Taylor, in the upcoming Season 5 of American Western crime drama TV series “Longmire” and it is no other than veteran actor Dylan Walsh.
It has been confirmed that Dylan Walsh will get back to the saddle in the Netflix drama expected to air in the second half of this year. The “Nip/Tuck” alum recently starred on “Unforgettable” and his entry in “Longmire” is actually a reunion of sorts with executive producer Greer Shephard, who was the showrunner of “Nip/Tuck” too.
Dylan Walsh shall take on the recurring role of Shane Muldoon, a character who is described as a boss of a criminal enterprise, but who cannot be mistaken for such because of his curated demeanor as well as calm and assertive intelligence. Muldoon is also Eddie Hefferman’s criminal boss, notes Deadline.
Walsh was a perfect choice for the character who is reported to exude charming manners that ultimately give him an ominous edge.
A veteran on the small
The actor has just finished his six-season role on the FX plastic surgery drama TV series “Nip/Tuck” where he played the role of Dr. Sean McNamara.
He subsequently had roles on other popular TV series including “Castle” and “NCIS: New Orleans,” before recently starring on “Unforgettable.”
Just like “Longmire,” “Unforgettable” moved distributors midway through its run. The latter moved from CBS to A&E for Season 4 while “Longmire moved from A&E to Netflix for Season 4. But A&E pulled the plug on “Unforgettable” in February.
Apart from “Longmire,” Walsh shall also be appearing on ABC’s upcoming mini TV series “When We Rise,” reports the Hollywood Reporter.
A returning old character
While there has been no official statement or announcement from Netflix regarding the casting and possible plotlines for the upcoming Season 5 of “Longmire,” several of the cast members have been posting photos of the set through their social media accounts.
There have been insinuations that the upcoming fifth season of “Longmire” shall feature the return of an old character, but there has been no official detail on who it is going to be, leaving fans and viewers to speculate at their will.
It was actually actress Kate Sackhoff, who plays the role of Vic Moriarty in the TV series, who teased in her Twitter account just recently that there will be someone who is going to make a comeback in Season 5 of “Longmire.”
The toss-up of the speculations is on Omar and Branch with Omar getting the most preference from fans rather than Branch.
What is confirmed at this point is that the comebacking character would be returning on the fourth episode of the upcoming fifth season of “Longmire,” according to Sackhoff.
Meanwhile, actor Lou Diamond Philips, who plays Henry Standing Bear, in “Longmire” revealed recently that his character in the TV series will be spending more time with Mathias, played by Zahn MaClarnon, as they collaborate on certain cases. Reports have it that Mathias will be deputizing Henry to work with him.
Henry tried to do so in Season 4 through the secretive route as Hector but it did not work out so fans are hoping that the two get to share more working time together in the upcoming Season 5.
Meanwhile, there are reports coming out that Season 5 of “Longmire” will be casting some Irish crime family members whom Walt Longmire will take an interest in with regards to a drugs-related murder.
There are also hints that the sheriff will end up being romantically involved with his deputy despite the relationship with Doctor Donna Sue Monaghan, played by Ally Walker, which was previewed during the Season 4 finale episode.
Hunt Baldwin, executive producer of “Longmire,” said in a previous interview that Vic will be ready to take a different look at her love life after having finally accepted the end of her marriage.
