Filming for Season 5 of the American western crime drama TV series “Longmire” is now underway in Mexico, as such, leaks and spoilers are expected to come along occasionally.
The biggest spoiler that has been hinted as of late came from actress Katee Sackhoff, who plays Vic Moriarty in the TV series when she posted on her Twitter account that she just read episode 4 of the fifth season of “Longmire” and fans would be excited about who is coming back.
Sackhoff did not specifically disclose who the mysterious character might be but the speculations are rife that it is going to be a fan-favorite character because of the way the actress made the post, notes the Vine Report.
According to rumors, the person may be someone who was thought to have been killed or died in the previous season of “Longmire” but turns out to have survived the incident one way or another. Based on those rumors, fans have been guessing that the comebacking character could either be Omar or Branch.
What is confirmed at this point is that the comebacking character would be returning on the fourth episode of the upcoming fifth season of “Longmire.”
A new casting addition
In addition to the possible return of a fan-favorite character, a new casting addition has been confirmed for Season 5 of “Longmire.”
Actor Sterling Beaumon, best known for his films such as “Crawlspace,” “The Pretty One,” and “Senior Partner,” has agreed to a recurring role in “Longmire.”
He will be playing the part of a rather obnoxious student from a preparatory school and he will be seen rummaging through Ally Walker’s stuff before being spotted by Walt and Vic. He shall reportedly play a significant role in Season 5 of “Longmire” as he will be claiming that he is Walker’s son, details the Gospel Herald.
With filming for Season 5 of “Longmire” now underway, some of the cast of characters are excited to be back on the set.
One of those is Lou Diamond Phillips, who plays the role of a native American belonging to the Cheyenne tribe, Henry Standing Bear. It was actually the 54-year-old “La Bamba” actor who recently confirmed on Twitter that production for “Longmire” has already begun.
Longer episodes
However, what has been giving Phillips the excitement is the fact that the episodes of Season 5 will be at least one hour long each, which is about 18 minutes longer than the episodes of the previous seasons, which stood at only 42 minutes each.
With that being said, the longer time for the popular modern-day Western drama thriller would enable the showrunner to shed light on some of the other key characters in the TV series for Season 5 including Lou Diamond Phillips’ character.
As every fan of “Longmire” knows, Henry Standing Bear is the closest friend of TV series main protagonist Walt Longmire, played by Robert Taylor, and they have been working together in several of the latter’s police investigation.
The last time that Henry Standing Bear was seen in the TV series was last season where he was shown trying to help another female Cheyenne tribe member who was raped by a couple of locals.
With more time for each episode, the showrunner and the writers can start considering giving every cast of character a focus on their respective backstories so that viewers would appreciate each and everyone in the TV series.
Phillips could only express elation of the possibility since at one point in his career several decades back, he was used to having the limelight shone on him. These days, however, he is already contented playing support to more popular actors of the current generation.
While there has been no confirmation yet from Netflix or from any production crew or staff, reports have it that Season 5 of “Longmire” is set to debut in September this year.
