Not much is known about the future of “Limitless” yet, and many fans are worried that the show may not see a second season. Currently, there are lots of reasons to be skeptical indeed, but there are also some possible rays of hope on the horizon. According to recent rumors, it’s possible that we could see the show renewed for a second season on Netflix.
And while that would be a good development of course, there are still some worried voices in the community, convinced that things will not end up good. If the production does get picked up by another network, it’s very likely that it will see some changes to its basic format in order to accommodate the vision of the new showrunners, and that in turn could alienate some of the current fans.
On the other hand, it could be the change the show needs in order to realize its true potential and shoot up to the tops of the charts. Some fans are still confused over the harsh fate of “Limitless” in the first place, as season 1 saw pretty good ratings overall and didn’t suffer from any obvious issues.
Not only that, but the show managed to draw in large numbers of viewers, and it didn’t make much sense to take it off the air in general. Some fans suspect that politics behind the scenes could have been the main reason, and it wouldn’t be the first time something like this has ruined an otherwise successful production. Hopefully that’s not the case though.
Reports on the official front have been unpleasant as well, and there are no good signs for the future on the horizon at the moment. People involved with “Limitless” also seem skeptical that we’re going to see a continuation at any point in the future, although this could be part of the possible internal issues that we described above.
This brings us back to the original question of what would happen to the show’s core premise if it did get picked up by another network. If the original reason for its cancellation had to do with misunderstandings between the people involved, these issues aren’t just going to go away by transferring the show to another network. With that in mind, it’s possible that we may see some major restructuring if that announcement is made.
Provided that the show does come back for another installment, fans seem mostly interested in the story behind Brian and his current situation, and there is a lot the writers can explore in that direction. There were already some hints that there were big things planned for him in the next episodes towards the end of season 1, which makes it even more unfortunate that the show ran into such issues in the end.
As for CBS, the network is apparently looking to expand its portfolio with even more new productions at the moment, which could also explain why “Limitless” is getting cancelled. However, it would be a bit strange to see the network choosing to gamble with a new production instead of focusing on an established one that has proven its value.
The world of TV works in mysterious ways though, and there are always hidden issues that fans are not aware of. We’re curious what might swim up to the surface in the future if the issues around “Limitless” get resolved, and the people involved in them feel a bit more open to talk.
