LG has confirmed the formal unveiling of its next flagship smartphone, the G4. But instead of coming up with one launching event, the South Korean tech company is actually looking at holding six simultaneous launching events in six different cities in the world on April 28.
The six cities shall represent the major retail markets that the LG G4 is planning to have an immediate impact on, primarily based on the sales performance of its previous flagship smartphone.
LG will have simultaneous unveiling of the G4 on April 28 in New York, London, Paris, Seoul, Singapore, and Istanbul, cites the Hindustan Times.
The decision of LG to unveil its latest flagship smartphone one month ahead of its schedule is meant to position its device in the major smartphone retail markets as the Samsung Galaxy S6 and the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge as well as the HTC One M9 are also rolling out in various markets in April.
Radical new design
The LG G4 has been rumored to feature a radical new design taken from the design elements of the LG G Flex 2. It shall be highlighted by the curved display that would make it at par with the new look of the Samsung Galaxy S6 and the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge.
The LG G4 will be an even more powerful handset because it will sport the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor, which is faster than what is being used in the LG G3.
Amid reports that Qualcomm is facing production delays for its 64-bit chipset, the company has quashed the notion and assured LG that it can deliver the required number of processors for the company’s upcoming flagship smartphone prior to its launching.
Other key features of the LG G4 include its upgraded camera which would be sporting a 16-megapixel resolution, an improvement from the LG G3, which has a resolution of only 13 megapixels. The LG G4 camera shall also come with a laser focus.
Aside from a 3GB RAM, the LG G4 will also be sporting the Android 5.0 Lollipop but it is likely that the flagship handset will have a free upgrade to Android 5.1 Lollipop once it officially hits the retail markets.
A very successful predecessor
LG G4 will be coming 11 months after the very successful launch and very good sales performance of the widely-lauded LG G3 released in May last year.
So there are also bits of pressure on the latest flagship smartphone of LG to equal if not surpass what the G3 has done since last year.
The G4 will be banking on the captured and niche market of the G3 and if it lives up to its hype as the better version of its predecessor, then LG’s latest flagship smartphone will roll along the global retail markets pretty nicely.
