The LG G3 is one of the better flagship smartphones in the market today. But it seems that its days as a flagship smartphone of LG are already numbered with countless rumors indicating that G4 is about to come out very soon.
Earlier reports have it that the LG G4 will be rolled out by the Korean tech company in the upcoming Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2015 event in March at Barcelona, Spain, to rival in-country competitor Samsung, who is rumored to be unveiling the Samsung Galaxy S6 during the occasion.
Latest rumors however cite that LG is backing out from doing any flagship smartphone launching in MWC 2015 because the other product unveilings may steal the thunder and the significance of its new product milestone.
In addition to Samsung, several other smartphone companies from different parts of the world would likely do some product launchings as well during the MWC 2015, which have become the highlights of the annual event.
Flagship launching pattern
The LG G3 was launched in May 2014 so given the typical one-year product cycle for flagship devices, it is likely that the Korean company will launched the LG G4 in May 2015, notes Tech Radar.
However, this is still not sure as history also shows that LG launched the G2 in September 2013 which was followed by the G3 just eight months later. So it’s not like LG will be following a pattern, because it does not have one in the first place.
But most tech experts believe that May 2015 is feasible because doing it earlier would not have much impact as much as doing it on that particular month. Some reports also mentioned that LG will be putting up an independent event to launch its latest flagship smartphone.
A powerful handset
If LG G3 was a power-pack flagship smartphone, the LG G4 will be an even more powerful handset because it will sport the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor, latest reports indicate.
Amid reports that Qualcomm is facing production delays for its 64-bit chipset, the company has quashed the notion and assured LG that it can deliver the required number of processors for the company’s upcoming flagship smartphone prior to its possible launching it May.
Other key features of the LG G4, according to the latest leaks on the device, include its upgraded camera which would be sporting a 16-megapixel resolution, an improvement from the LG G3, which has a resolution of only 13 megapixels.
Aside from a 3GB RAM, the LG G4 will also be sporting the Android 5.0 Lollipop, Google’s latest mobile operating system, upon its release, according to latest reports.
That would be good news for LG fans but it is likely that the flagship handset will have the Android 5.1 Lollipop by May instead of the problematic first version of the Lollipop.
