LG G4 Joining the Fray of New Flagship Smartphones Hitting the Retail Markets in April, And More

The LG G4 is rumored to be hitting the retail markets late next month which could make April a very interesting month for flagship smartphones.

The Samsung Galaxy S6 and the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge is due to officially hit the retail markets on April 10. HTC One M9 will also be making a grand entrance into the market next month. Should the Korean tech company decides to join the fray with the LG G4, there would be a three-cornered fight among flagship smartphones in the global retail markets.

This augurs well for smartphone consumers and the only skeptics from LG’s plan are the owners of LG G3 since their current flagship smartphone has yet to complete its one-year cycle in the retail markets, notes Ubergizmo.

It could be remembered that the LG G3 was launched in South Korea in a press event on May 27 last year. It hit the retail markets beginning the following day starting in its home market.

No launching pattern

Unlike most major smartphone makers who strictly follow the typical one-year product cycle in the retail markets, LG does not run its launching pattern by the book.

History would show that LG launched the G2 in September 2013 which was followed by the G3 just eight months later. So it’s not like LG will be following a pattern, because it does not have one in the first place.

Therefore an April 2015 launching is very possible indeed. Initial reports also mentioned that LG will be putting up an independent event to launch its latest flagship smartphone, which is pretty much consistent with the latest word from the Korean company

Curved display

The latest leaked reports on the upcoming flagship smartphone indicate that the LG G4 will have a curved display, which would make it at par with the Samsung Galaxy S6 and the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge.

The LG G4 will be an even more powerful handset because it will sport the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor, which is faster than what is being used in the LG G3.

Amid reports that Qualcomm is facing production delays for its 64-bit chipset, the company has quashed the notion and assured LG that it can deliver the required number of processors for the company’s upcoming flagship smartphone prior to its launching.

Other key features of the LG G4 include its upgraded camera which would be sporting a 16-megapixel resolution, an improvement from the LG G3, which has a resolution of only 13 megapixels.

LG G4

Aside from a 3GB RAM, the LG G4 will also be sporting the Android 5.0 Lollipop, Google’s latest mobile operating system, upon its release. That would be good news for LG fans but it is likely that the flagship handset will have a free upgrade to Android 5.1 Lollipop once it officially hits the retail markets.
