The multiplayer zombie shooter video game “Left 4 Dead 3” will come out as a prequel to its predecessor video game, the “Left 4 Dead 2” according to some rumors.
Apparently, the video game will take place roughly a month before the zombie outbreak began which means that it will be set before the events of “Left 4 Dead 2,” notes the Christian Post.
The same report also said that there will be six campaigns for “Left 4 Dead 3,” including Crash-land, Impasse, Inquisitor Land, Early Destination, Cliff-Hanger, and No Mercy.
The game shall also introduce four new survivors which are playable either by single or multiplayer mode. The characters will be three men and a woman. The three men include a gangster named Irvin, a comic book nerd named Keenan, and a famous Kenpo fighter known as Garrett Jr. The lone female in the group is Katherine.
However, since Valve Corporation has yet to come out with an official statement regarding the game, this information should be taken with a fine grain of salt for now.
A dormant franchise
The Christian Today reported that the dormant state of the “Left 4 Dead” franchise is about to change soon as reports have it that the game could either be released on the PlayStation 4, the Xbox One, and the PC either later in 2016 or early 2017.
But these are merely unconfirmed rumors for now until game developer Valve Corporation officially makes the announcement about the release date of the game.
Assuming that the “Left 4 Dead 3” is finally released next year, then it would have taken the developer seven years to come up with the game after its predecessor was released sometime in 2009. Six years is practically an eternity in modern-day game development according to critics.
The development of “Left 4 Dead 3” could have been faster if not for the parting of ways between Valve Corporation and Turtle Rock Studios, the franchise’s original creators.
While Valve has more than enough development team talent and resources, life would have been easier if Turtle Rock Studios is around since it is more familiar with the franchise and the game compared to its partner.
Better chance
Between “Left 4 Dead 3” and the zombie first-person shooter video game “Half Life 3,” both under the stable of Valve Corporation, it is the former which has the better chance of coming out early.
As of late, the concentration of Valve has been on the development of multiplayer games and its internet-based gaming platform called Steam. These initiatives have been raking in major profits for the company.
With the massive success of “Dota 2” and “Counterstrike” and other games on its Steam platform, it is almost sure that “Left 4 Dead 3” will definitely be released. As a matter of fact, there have been reports that “Left 4 Dead 3” is already under development and Valve just wants to keep everything under wraps.
Unlike in the case of “Half Life 3,” where much of the hints of its development comes in cryptic teases or leaks, there is nothing of such kind for “Left 4 Dead 3” which means that Valve is really busy with the game.
In fact, there are now reports coming out that Valve might finally decide on cancelling the development of “Half Life 3” altogether.
There is no speculation of such kind with “Left 4 Dead 3” which only validates that the game is indeed in the works. Latest reports also have it that “Left 4 Dead 3” could possibly be released sooner than fans and gamers thought it to be.
However, until Valve Corporation makes the formal announcement to confirm or debunk the reports about the release date of “Left 4 Dead 3,” all information regarding the game’s official roll out remains as speculations at this time.
