We’ve already seen an old map from a previous game in the series ported to the new Source Engine 2 during a presentation by Valve, but we don’t know if that level will actually make it into the final game or not.
It’s possible that it was just designed as a means of a tech presentation to show how far Valve have come with their work on the engine, but there could also be a remake of an old campaign in the new game as a throwback to the old days.
Of course, the game should still feature enough actual new content in order to be received well by fans – as interesting as it is to play an old map seen through the “lens” of a new engine, it’s always much more interesting to play entirely new levels altogether.
So hopefully Valve are not only working on the game, but preparing something amazing for it too. We expect to hear some more information about it once Source 2 is officially out on the market – until then, fans should keep an ear open for rumors but also be careful not to get fooled by outrageous claims made by suspicious sources. We’re probably going to see plenty of rumors about “Left 4 Dead 3” over the next months.
