Other fans of the studio are worried that their work on “Left 4 Dead 3” – if it’s really happening – is taking away from the possibility of seeing “Half-Life 3” anytime soon. But at this point, many seem to have completely given up on seeing the sequel to the “Half-Life” franchise in a reasonable timeframe, so that’s probably a moot point.
Valve have been just as quiet on that front, only coming out to say that there were no plans to work on “Half-Life 3” in the near future. However, as can be expected, that wasn’t exactly convincing to many of their fans.
It’s interesting to note that the release of the unfinished campaign for the first “Left 4 Dead” seems to have inspired community content creators to work on the game once again.
If anything new comes out on that front, it could at least fill the void in fans’ hearts until Valve decides to release an official sequel themselves. However, it’s questionable if that will happen anytime soon, judging by the complete lack of information from the studio’s side.
Valve are usually quite open about their projects once they are dedicated to getting something out the door, and they are rarely shy to talk about their progress in those cases. So the quietness around “Left 4 Dead 3” could indeed be because the game is not being worked on, and fans should not hold any hopes for it.
