‘Left 4 Dead 3’ Possibly on Track for a Late 2016 or Early 2017 Release!

Between the multiplayer zombie shooter video game “Left 4 Dead 3” and the zombie first-person shooter video game “Half Life 3,” both under the stable of gaming company Valve Corporation, it is the former which has the better chance of coming out early.

As of late, the concentration of Valve has been on the development of multiplayer games and its internet-based gaming platform called Steam. These initiatives have been raking in major profits for the company so it is only logical if Valve’s focus is on such.

With the massive success of multiplayer games “Dota 2” and “Counterstrike” and other games on its Steam platform, it is almost sure that “Left 4 Dead 3” will definitely be released. As a matter of fact, there have been reports that “Left 4 Dead 3” is already under development and Valve Corporation is just keeping everything under wraps.

Unlike in the case of “Half Life 3,” where much of the hints of its development come in cryptic teases or leaks, there is nothing of such kind for “Left 4 Dead 3” which means that the developer is really busy with the game.

In the works

In fact, there are now reports coming out that Valve might finally decide on cancelling the development of “Half Life 3” altogether, cites Youth Health Mag.

There is no speculation of such kind with “Left 4 Dead 3,” which only validates that the game is indeed in the works. Latest reports also have it that “Left 4 Dead 3” could possibly be released late next year, with the latest being early 2017, notes the Christian Today.

However, until Valve Corporation makes the formal announcement to confirm or debunk the current reports about the release date of “Left 4 Dead 3,” all information regarding the game’s official roll out remains as speculations at this time.

If and when “Left 4 Dead 3” is released late next year, it would have taken Valve Corporation all of seven years to develop the game, which is like an eternity in modern-day game development.

Obviously, the departure of Turtle Rock Studios as Valve Corporation’s partner in the “Left 4 Dead” franchise has had an impact on the development of “Left 4 Dead 3.” But it also put pressure on Valve to really develop the game. If Valve will not push through with the development of “Left 4 Dead 3,” it would only mean that it was Turtle Rock Studios who was the brain and called the shots on the franchise all along, which would be a big bite out of the pride of the major gaming company. Valve Corporation would not want that to happen most certainly given its reputation in the business.

Writings on the wall

Recent incidents also seem to point to the writings on the wall that the “Left 4 Dead 3” is now on the development phase.

First came the revelations made by an anonymous former employee of Valve Corporation who said that the game development company will develop “Left 4 Dead 3” ahead of the first-person shooter video game “Half Life 3.”

Recently, leaks started coming out saying that Valve Corporation was already remaking several “Left 4 Dead 2” levels using the Source 2 Engine, which is consistent with reports that “Left 4 Dead 3” will be developed using Steam’s new engine.

left 4 dead 3

The remaking of several levels of “Left 4 Dead 2” is a good indication that Valve is obviously working on the development of its successor using the Source 2 Engine. Getting a dry run or test run of the new engine using the predecessor video game may actually mean that the developer is making a prototype for “Left 4 Dead 3.”

In addition to the Source 2 Engine news, there were also reports saying that Valve is actually considering the use of virtual reality (VR) technology for both “Left 4 Dead 3” and “Half Life 3.” Assuming those reports are true, then it is likely another reason why the development of both games has been taking so long.
