‘Left 4 Dead 3’ Game Developer Writer Saying that the Third Installment is not a Prequel to ‘Left 4 Dead 2’ Indicate that the Game is Now in the Works!

When recent reports started coming out that the multiplayer zombie shooter video game “Left 4 Dead 3” will come out as a prequel to its predecessor game, “Left 4 Dead 2,” a writer of Valve Corporation has publicly came out to clarify that it is not.

A supposed video of “Left 4 Dead 3” was recently posted on YouTube and it takes place roughly a month before the zombie outbreak began, which means that it will be set before the events of “Left 4 Dead 2.”

Accordingly, there will be six campaigns for “Left 4 Dead 3,” including Crash-land, Impasse, Inquisitor Land, Early Destination, Cliff-Hanger, and No Mercy.

The game shall also introduce four new survivors which are playable either by single or multiplayer mode. The characters will be three men and a woman. The three men include a gangster named Irvin, a comic book nerd named Keenan, and a famous Kenpo fighter known as Garrett Jr. The lone female in the group is Katherine.

Debunking the rumors

Writer Chet Faliszek of Valve explained that the video that was recently leaked showing how the infection began was made by Overkill Software, the developer of “Payday: The Heist.”

Faliszek said that it is not an official video for “Left 4 Dead 3” and does not indicate that the upcoming game will be a prequel, notes Venture Capital Post.

The Valve writer said that the video is not telling the origins of the infection. He said that there is hardly a cameo from one of the “Left 4 Dead” characters and there is no fun little Easter Egg with a payoff later in “Left 4 Dead.”

However, when Faliszek came out to debunk reports that “Left 4 Dead 3” is not going to be a prequel of “Left 4 Dead 2,” it means that he is privy to the current development of the game.

Knowing how Valve keeps its game development work under the radar, Faliszek would not muster enough strength to even think of answering, much more debunking latest rumors about the game if he does not know anything about “Left 4 Dead 3.”

Falling by the wayside

Because of the lack of official news regarding the development of “Left 4 Dead 3,” Moviepilot actually thinks that the game, just like the first-person shooter video game “Half-Life 3,” has fallen by the wayside as Valve Corporation focuses on the development of multiplayer games as well as other games on its Steam gaming platform.

The site thinks that “Left 4 Dead 3” is not a priority for Valve Corporation at this time. With its multiplayer and Steam games making tons of money and raising the company’s profit bottom line, the game developer will not be gambling its time and resources on a game for the PC and the gaming consoles that seems to have an uncertain reception.

Between “Left 4 Dead 3” and “Half-Life 3” however, it is the former which has the better chance of coming out early.

As of late, the concentration of Valve has been on the development of multiplayer games and its internet-based gaming platform called Steam. These initiatives have been raking in major profits for the company.

left 4 dead 3

With the massive success of “Dota 2” and “Counterstrike” and other games on its Steam platform, it is almost sure that “Left 4 Dead 3” will definitely be released. As a matter of fact, there have been reports that “Left 4 Dead 3” is already under development and Valve just wants to keep everything under wraps.

Unlike in the case of “Half-Life 3,” where much of the hints of its development comes in cryptic teases or leaks, there is nothing of such kind for “Left 4 Dead 3” which means that Valve is really busy with the game.

In fact, there are now reports coming out that Valve might finally decide on canceling the development of “Half-Life 3” altogether.

  1. “Indicate that the Game is Now in the Works!” – This is nothing! They just don’t see the future of L4D3 as a prequel, that’s all. Maybe i’m wrong… who knows! The time will tell, but right now, it’s just a speculation.
