Mechs vs. Minions is a result of 3 years of hard work by League of Legends developer Riot Games. It is a co-op programmatic board game which places four freakish and adorable Yordle characters against a group of trash mobs.
The story of the game reveals that Rumble invites Heimerdinger, Ziggs, Tristana and Corki to his highly prestigious mech training school. However, things start going wrong, and the four characters are pitted against minion hordes, thereby engaged in a battle to save Runeterra. The story is pretty serious and nothing to make fun of.
Chris Cantrell, the associate producer of Riot Games, worked on this game, accompanied by a tiny team. They have been considering it as a side project for the best part of last three years.
In the end, we will witness a game which combines the extravagance and depth of highly convoluted mature board games while keeping things desirably simple and mostly satisfying enough, for the new board game player.
Mechs vs. Minions will be released on 13th October at the Riot Store, for a price of 75 dollars. We can simply hope to possess a copy and be filled up with Yordles by that time. A new video review was released, and it’s worth checking out as well.
