Apple are rumored to be speeding up their development quite actively lately, and the company is reportedly gearing up for a very eventful 2015, with multiple devices lined up for release. Among those are two new entries in the iPhone line, as well as at least one new iPad. Of course, those are just rumors at this point, but some of them have been coming from sources that have previously turned out to be legitimate, plus they would make sense with regards to the company’s past release trends.
The most prominent rumors indicate that the new devices will start coming out around September or October, contrary to previous reports that the company is looking to release their first new device in the beginning of the summer season. Making their first launch of the year around September would actually be the more plausible scenario, as this is the period when Apple usually get more active with their releases.
It’s not known exactly what devices Apple are planning to launch in 2015, but most rumors so far are talking about the iPhone 6s, iPhone 7, iPad Air 3 and iPad mini 4. That’s a lot of new releases, although it wouldn’t be the first time the company has made such a massive entry into the market in just one year. It’s also not clear if those will be the official names for the devices or if Apple are planning to give them more unique ones. Ever since they decided to change their naming scheme with the iPad, it can be realistically expected that they might want to try a new pattern for the new devices this year.
Of all these, the iPhone 7 is understandably the most interesting upcoming offer by Apple, but it’s also the one we know the least about. The device hasn’t even been officially confirmed by the company, although there is certainly no shortage of rumors regarding its alleged specifications. Some sources are claiming that Apple are going to make a huge change in their approach to the iPhone’s design, and they’re looking to revive the line, but it remains to be seen if those rumors are true. Others state that the new phone will be just a slight upgrade over older entries.
In any case, if the company really is working on a brand new iPhone, then details about it will likely start surfacing a few weeks before the official announcement, as it usually happens. Apple may or may not want to tease with some extra information ahead of their official announcement, although this wouldn’t match their previous style too much, as they usually like to leave all important details for the big reveal at their major keynote events.

According to o5Mac, Apple was rumored to be testing the Smart Connector in some iPhone prototypes but may veer away from that feature in the final product.
