Three time’s the charm for on-screen couple Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling as they are set to be paired again for their third movie together “La La Land.” E! News gamely shared photos of the two while on set on August 12 in Los Angeles.
The 34-year-old actor donned a blue suit and black trousers and was joined by Emma Stone, who entered her first official day on the set that day. The 26-year-old actress synced with her co-star as she wore a royal blue halter knee-length dress and a strappy stiletto heels. “La La Land” follows the story of an aspiring actress, to be played by Stone, and a jazz pianist, to be played by Gosling, who falls in love with each other but faced some obstacles along the way because of their surging careers. The movie is set to be released in July 2016.
The upcoming film, which is dubbed as a comedy musical drama, is written and will be directed by Damien Chazelle, the same man behind 2014’s “Whiplash.” J.K. Simmons, who appeared in the Oscar-nominated movie will also appear in “La La Land.”
According to the Daily Mail, Chazelle initially wanted “Whiplash” star Miles Teller to play the lead but with the actor’s prior commitments and conflict of schedule, he had to back out of the project. “All of Me” singer John Legend is also rumored to have snagged a role in the film and it is probably because of the musical intonation of the film that made Legend agree to be part of the movie.
Stone and Gosling first worked together when they were paired in Steve Carrell’s romantic comedy “Crazy Stupid Love” which was released in 2011. Two years later, they again showcased major chemistry in the film “Gangster Squad.”
In an interview with E! News last month, Emma discussed her excitement to work with Ryan again saying that it’s fun because she already knows Ryan and is already comfortable working with him. The “Easy A” actress then went on joking about “The Notebook” actor’s singing and tap-dancing skills on the set.
While the two undeniably possess an incredible chemistry on-screen, they also make good chemistry with their significant others off-screen. Stone is in a four-year relationship with “The Amazing Spiderman” actor Andrew Garfield. The couple met on the set of the superhero film in 2011 and hit it off since then. Earlier this year, the couple took some time off from each other because of cheating allegations on Garfield as well as their busy careers.
At that time, the 31-year-old Garfield was heavily invested in his role in Martin Scorsese’s “Silence” while his girlfriend was also busy filming “Aloha.” Nevertheless, a few months after their break, the two were spotted together again and have been inseparable ever since, creating assumptions that they have patched things up.
Stone’s recent performance can be seen in Woody Allen’s latest mystery drama offering “Irrational Man.” The film also stars Joaquin Pheonix, Parker Posey, and Jamie Blackley. It revolves around the importance of philosophy and the ethics of murder and follows Professor Abe Lucas, portrayed by Phoenix, who faces an existential crisis. However, he rediscovers himself when he starts dating one of his students Jill, played by Emma Stone. Lucas then kills a judge in order to aid a helpless mother in her custody battle for her kids. But Jill heavily disapproves of what he did, and she left Lucas who was fuming mad and threatened to kill her.
