Konami unveiled the first gameplay footage of Metal Gear Survive at the Tokyo Game Show. The extended demo has a runtime of more than 15 minutes.
The demo shows four players trying to break into a compound. After taking control of the compound, they hold it against a group of creatures who try to break in.
Konami incorporated both new and familiar techniques into Metal Gear Survive, which the players can easily identify. The demo video shows co-op stealth and infiltration. The developers have also brought in various new equipment and weapons.
The video showcased at the Tokyo Game Show was in Japanese, but the developers made sure that there were captions in English for the benefit of fans who aren’t well versed in Japanese.
According to Game Spot, the video of Metal Gear Survive beautifully showcases the use of Fulton Cannon. The players see the character trap a sheep and tie it up in the air.
The sheep automatically draws the enemies towards it; providing ample opportunity to attack them with a grenade or other weapons present in the arsenal.
The extended demo of Metal Gear Survive provides glimpses of a new slingshot weapon along with handy spike traps, which are some of the map elements that can contribute to environmental deaths.
Because of the critical map elements, there is the option to treat players. The demo of Metal Gear Survive shows a player with a wounded leg after a zombie attack.
The injury system in the game allows for the players’ treatment with a medical kit. Konami brought back the healing system, last seen in Metal Gear Solid 3.
Konami didn’t include the recovery chopper in Metal Gear Survive. However, items that are suspended by the Fulton Cannon are transported back to the base by using the wormhole.
The Fulton Cannon will bring in an exciting dimension to the game. Instead of helicopter-based soldiers and wildlife kidnapping, the wormhole will rip open the fabric of reality.
Euro Gamer reported that the Melee combat is spruced up in Metal Gear Survive. The reason behind this would be the need to tackle supernatural enemies in the upcoming game. The advanced melee combat allows players to poke a zombie’s neck hole while wielding a spear.
Konami’s brand manager, Richard Jones explains the newest game. He says that the world in which the soldiers wake up is an alien landscape. The soldier has to work as a team to survive because surviving alone isn’t a possibility.
The plot of Metal Gear Survive picks up from the aftermath of the attack on the Mother Base. The wormhole sucked in a part of their base along with the Militaires Sans Frontières soldiers.
The players get to pick one of the soldiers and team up with the rest of their comrades. The basic premise of the game being laid out; it is a survival game where the soldiers, along with their team, fight against zombies and similar creatures.
Players who have played previous Metal Gear titles have reported that Metal Gear Survive looks similar to Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain. The demo of Metal Gear Survive has graphics and backgrounds identical to Metal Gear Solid 5.
Konami announced their plans for Metal Gear Survive at Gamescon 2016 held in August. The game developer launched the stealth game on all platforms, including the PC. The game is set in the same world as Metal Gear Solid 5 and is going to pick up right after the events in Ground Zeroes.
