According to game director Tetsuya Nomura, Kingdom Hearts 3 has utilized Unreal 4 Engine from Epic games. Even though, the director has not specified the problems that the old engine was causing, he mentioned that it was getting increasingly difficult for the team to work on a new game using the dated platform.
The switch however is not expected to cause any additional delay. The switch in engines is the primary reason behind Square Enix’s decision to avoid showcasing Kingdom Hearts 3 at TGS 2014. They announced that the game was yet to feature the final release date so that the gamers would be thrown off the track.
Epic Games is rumored to be on standby to provide round the clock assistance in case of issues with tethering. Square Enix has used the in-house Luminous engine for Final Fantasy XV, although, we are presently unaware of the other games that have utilized the same engine.
This report surfaced a few days after Nomura quit working on Final Fantasy XV. Fans started speculating that he quit his role in FFXV to focus extensively on developing Kingdom Hearts 3. Later reports however suggested that Square Enix is working on both projects simultaneously.
Nomura revealed that both projects are coming on successfully, and the initial response has been overwhelming. Riku and Sora get a few new outfits while the environment features numerous upgrades. Fans had been waiting for KH 3 for quite a while now and these announcements are sure to cheer them up.
Even though, Nomura was unable to introduce every desired character in the game, he has assured gamers of a more comprehensive battle experience. In Kingdom Hearts 3, Sora and the guys need to overcome tougher challenges from the rivals. Gamers need to buckle up for the experience.
Fans have been waiting for KH 3 to hit retailers for quite a while now, although, official word on the release date is still some time off. However, fans are waiting to witness the upgrades brought forth by the change in engines and we are quite excited too!
