Waiting for “Kingdom Hearts 3” has been quite the ordeal for some fans of the franchise, as we’ve heard various interesting rumors about the new game over the months, including some not so positive ones. It seems like a lot is going to change in the new title if at least some of the rumors turn out to be true, and lately we’ve been learning some new details that have made fans even more curious.
One of the biggest questions on most people’s minds with regards to the new game is what new franchises will be featured in it. “Kingdom Hearts” is unique in the way it includes characters from various prominent Disney brands, and this has been one of the main subjects of speculation among fans since the beginning.
Currently, some of the most promising candidates appear to be “Frozen”, “Big Hero 6”, and “Toy Story”. “Star Wars” has been mentioned several times as well, although it still seems to be under question at the moment.
Disney are known for their strongly secretive approach to producing everything that involves their intellectual property, and this makes it understandable why the developers of “Kingdom Hearts 3” have been so quiet about their work on the game too.
But in the end, we know that the final result is going to get huge amounts of polish and attention to every tiny detail, and that the studio is going to do everything they can to make it a worthy successor to the franchise.
Some of the rumors about the game claim that a lot is actually still on the table with regards to the franchises that will be included in it, and that’s one of the main reasons for Disney’s secrecy about the project. If it’s true that the studio is actively changing their minds about what they want (and don’t want) to include in the game, it makes sense for them to avoid revealing too much as well.
Otherwise, they could easily disappoint their fans by promising the inclusion of a franchise that ends up getting dropped from the final game. And that’s even the least of their potential worries, knowing how much gamers love to speculate and to twist every official word said by the developers.
Those who want to get the full experience out of the new game when it comes out will have to play “Kingdom Hearts 2.8”, according to Tai Yasue. This will be an important piece to the plot puzzle of the new game, and even though “Kingdom Hearts 3” should still manage to stand on its own, it will not give players the full picture.
That’s an interesting approach to the story of the new game, but hopefully it isn’t going to backfire against the developers and publisher. If players are made to feel like they are practically required to buy another game in order to fully understand the story, this could create a bad impression for the game itself. And in the end, it could ruin its reputation in an underserving way.
There are other things that will determine the success of “Kingdom Hearts 3” of course, such as the quality of the gameplay and the improvements that have been realized there. Players seem to expect quite a lot out of the new game, judging by their discussions on some messaging boards, and the developers have some serious standards to live up to if they want to make the game a success.
