Square Enix have been trying to stay as quiet as possible about “Kingdom Hearts 3”, as the studio reportedly has quite a lot on their plate with the development of the game. Shinji Hashimoto, who’s also producing “Final Fantasy XV” at the same time as “Kingdom Hearts 3”, has stated that the company is currently in the process of preparing information that will be released publicly, although he couldn’t say when that will be done.
Meanwhile, reports indicate that the game is currently planned for release in March 2015, followed shortly by “Final Fantasy XV” in May. In addition, the new “Final Fantasy” will reportedly get a PC port as well, and won’t be a console exclusive this time around. Not only that, but it seems that Square Enix have been working quite hard to get as much as possible out of modern PC hardware, as both titles support DirectX 11 and make use of its various special features to a large extent. There’s certainly a lot of potential benefit for “Kingdom Hearts 3” if it were to use DirectX 11, so it will be interesting to see that.
Fans of “Kingdom Hearts 3” have also been getting more and more vocal with a very peculiar request to the developers – apparently, there are a lot of people out there who would want to see Walt Disney featured as a character in the game. There were previously rumors that this was actually planned by Square Enix, but those were later disproven. However, the discussion lingered around the Internet, and subsequently fans decided that they want to see the idea become reality.
And while fans have been pointing out various reasons why this would be the perfect installment to include Walt Disney in, there are reports that claim that even if the developers agreed with their fans’ requests, there’s not much they can do at this point, as the game is already in an advanced stage of development. Adding a new character would be too difficult and could even result in delays for the entire project, due to the way the game’s development is structured, and it’s speculated that this is actually the reason why Square Enix have been so quiet on the issue.
Still, fans are going to see some consolation in the “Memorable Characters” feature of the game, which will give them a chance to see various characters from the previous titles coming back. Even though Walt Disney isn’t being considered as an option for this feature, fans have still been excited about the idea and are hopeful that there will be a satisfying selection of characters included.
