Kaya Scodelario to Fill in Keira Knightley’s Corset in ‘Pirates of the Caribbean 5’, Details

Keira Knightley will no longer be back for the fifth installment of the ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ movie series. Orlando Bloom is still not sure whether he wants to make a go for it for the fifth time with the Disney film saga.

Only Johnny Depp as Captain Jack Sparrow has committed to return for “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales.” He will be joined by Brenton Thwaites, the Australian actor whose latest film credits include “The Giver” and “Maleficent.”

A few days ago, the female lead star has finally been confirmed. And she’s no other than British actress Kaya Scodelario, whose major credits include “The Maze Runner” and the teen drama series “Skins.”

Kaya was born in London, England to a Brazilian mother Katia Scodelario and English father Roger Humphrey.

She will be filling in the corset of Keira Knightley, which the actress have worn in the past four ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ movies.

Kaya will take on the female lead role opposite Brenton Thwait, cites Perez Hilton. The site thinks that “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales” will be her springboard to stardom.

Started young in acting

Kaya Scodelario’s first foray into the acting business began in 2007 when she was casted in the teen drama TV series “Skins” at the age of 14. During the audition, she felt that she was too young to be part of the cast so she thought of backing out.

But the producer told her to stay and was asked to read the part. She was taken in and became part of the TV series. Kaya became the only character to appear from the first to the fourth season of “Skins.”

Kaya had her movie debut in the movie “Moon,” a science fiction thriller that premiered during the 2009 Sundance Film Festival.

Her second film was titled “Shank” which was released in March 2010. She also did the remake of the “Clash of the Titans” in the same year where she took on the role of Peshet.

She has since made ten movies in the span of five years including the very successful “The Maze Runner” last year where she played the role of Teresa Agnes. The movie was so successful that a sequel titled “The Maze Runner: Scorch Trials” is currently in the works and will likely be shown within the year.

“Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales” is obviously the biggest break that Kaya Scodelario has long been waiting for as a young but well-experienced thespian. And with Disney producing the film, it is likely that it will spawn more assignments for her both on TV and in the movies should it become a blockbuster, which is almost guaranteed already.

“Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales” will hit the theaters on July 7, 2017.
