Fresh from her very successful and widely-cheered halftime performance in Super Bowl 2015 on February 1, Katy Perry goes into the warpath, already equipped with the right amount of accomplishments to bring it on against rival Taylor Swift.
In an interview with Elle magazine of the US, Katy gave a no-holds barred of her despise or hate with Taylor Swift and how their feud came out to be.
From being one-time pal, 30-year-old Katy Perry and 25-year-old Taylor Swift became the worst of enemies especially when Swift accused Perry of stealing her backup dancers that nearly had her Red Tour concert last year being sidetracked.
The dancers eventually found their way to Perry’s Prismatic Tour which also coincided with Swift’s concert tour, details Yahoo! News.
The terpsichorean talents later on explained that they were originally the backup dancers of Katy Perry before they joined Taylor Swift’s camp in between tours. So when Katy Perry went with her Prismatic Tour, they rejoined her and had no intention of pulling the plug on Taylor Swift’s concert.
And the bad blood continues
Because of what she felt was an attempt to sabotage her concert tour, Swift eventually wrote a song “Bad Blood” which is now part of her chart-topping “1989” album, her fifth studio album.
Although Taylor Swift did not name names in the song, the lyrics obviously had to do with Katy Perry and how she felt about what she and her dancers did to her before her very successful Red Tour concert.
Katy Perry knows it too. She says that “Bad Blood” was written by Taylor Swift to refer to their feud and it was obvious from the song’s lyrics that go: “It had to do with business. She basically tried to sabotage an entire arena tour. She tried to hire a bunch of people out from under me.”
The villain and the princess
The “Roar” singer also felt that she came out as the villain in the story while Taylor Swift became the princess.
She said that has always been the story in the media. As pop figures, they’re all characters. Someone has to play the villain and someone has to be the princess. And the media just leaves the fans from guessing who the sweetheart is and who the villain is.
Katy Perry said that in the international music industry these days, the narrative is that Taylor Swift is the sweetheart while Kanye West is the villain, going around the notion that she is being singled out as the villain in her feud with Taylor, especially in the eyes of the million of Taylor Swift’s fans who call themselves the Swifties.
She also took a dig at Britney Spears who was a former pop princess too. Katy said that there are pop stars who thought that they signed up for one thing but agreed to sign up for a hundred others. And that is the reason why people shave their heads, she alluded.
