When Nicky Minaj and Taylor Swift had a short-lived Twitter feud last week as an offshoot of the hip-hop artist’s comment alluding to possible racial discrimination on the nominations in the 2015 Video Music Awards, Katy Perry practically came out of nowhere to make an indirect potshot at the “Blank Space” singer.
The feud began when Minaj tweeted and complained about the lack of MTV Award nominations for her “Anaconda” music video, alluding to racial discrimination even if feminism is already being embraced by the music industry.
Taylor Swift took it as a personal dig as she was nominated in the awards so she tweeted that she has nothing but love and support for Nicky but the hip hop artist was pitting women against each other in her tweet.
It was a minor social media feud that in a matter of days, things were already sorted out between Nicky and Taylor as both expressed apologies to each other.
But Katy Perry came out with her own tweet on July 22 saying that she finds it ironic to parade the pit women against other women argument because she feels that it just capitalizes on the take down of a woman. Taylor Swift never bothered commenting on the tweet of Katy Perry, notes US Magazine.
Getting even in style
However, three days after the indirect diss of Katy Perry on Twitter, it was the turn of Taylor Swift to also take an indirect swipe at the “Roar” singer.
During her concert in Foxborough, Massachusettes, she was singing her hit song “Bad Blood,” one of her dancers showed up behind a glass panel dressed like a shark, which caused Taylor Swift to laugh in the middle of her song.
It was obviously a joke but when the video surfaced on Twitter, those in the know immediately pointed to the shark as a dig at Katy Perry. It can be recalled that the “Firework” singer made headlines back in February as the halftime performer of the 2015 Superbowl which saw her in a portion of her performance with two dancing sharks.
“Bad Blood” was written by Taylor Swift because it describes her rift with Katy Perry involving dancers allegedly stolen by the “Roar” singer from the “Shake It Up” singer just before she went on concert tour. Perry’s now-famous ‘left shark’ was apparently one of the dancers she allegedly stole from Swift, making the July 25 concert a subtle swipe on Perry.
Brushing elbows with the Presidents
Meanwhile, Katy Perry recently performed in Minnesota for the Starkey Hearing Foundation where she met former US presidents George Bush and Bill Clinton.
She immediately posted an image of herself on social media with the two presidents and captioning it as hanging around with 42nd and 43rd leaders, and then insinuating that she could be the 46th, details the Mirror of UK.
Katy Perry was alluding to the fact that Bush was the 42nd president of the US, while Clinton was the 43rd. Next year’s election will determine the 46th president of the country.
Meanwhile, Katy Perry and singer John Mayer were reportedly back together again for the umpteenth time. The 31-year-old pop singer also ensured that her Fourth of July celebration had plenty of fireworks as she was seen in Chicago with her on-again, off-again boyfriend John Mayer.
Despite previously saying that she would never get back together again with John Mayer because he has not changed one bit, the “Firework” singer still can’t seem to say no when the “You’re Body is a Wonderland” singer starts showing off his charms.
The two seemed to have rekindled their romance for the umpteenth time as they were seen in Chicago on the night of July 4, looking very much in love with one another.
