Supermodel-turned-actress Kate Upton will soon be joining the cast of the movie titled “The Disaster Artist” starring James Franco, who shall also be directing the film.
The movie is about the making of the romantic drama “The Room,” which is regarded as the worst film of all time.
James Franco will produce, direct, and star in the film and he shall take on the role of Tommy Wiseau, the director of the 2003 film, earning for him the reputation as the Disaster Artist, which is the title of the movie, notes the Christian Post.
Wiseau wore multiple hats behind the scenes of “The Room.” In addition to directing the film, he also wrote, produced, and starred in what is described as the ‘Citizen Kane’ of bad movies.
It is not clear however what the role of Kate Upton is in the movie, but it would surely be interesting to find out especially following her recent filming stint in the upcoming romantic comedy movie “The Layover,” where she co-stars with Alexandra Daddario.
Based on non-fiction book
“The Disaster Artist” is based on the 2013 non-fiction book titled “The Disaster Artist: My Life Inside The Room,” which was written by journalist Tom Bissell and Greg Sestero, one of the lead actors in “The Room.”
In the book, Sestero recounted his life as a penniless actor and described working with Wiseau, who is said to have had no experience in filmmaking prior to making “The Room.”
Dave Franco, James’ brother, will play the role of Sestero, who also played Mark in “The Room.” In addition to Kate Upton, other stars in “The Disaster Artist” include Seth Rogen, Josh Hutcherson, and Zac Efron. It shall also star Jacki Weaver, Ari Graynor, Hannibal Buress, and Andrew Santino.
Scott Neustadter and Michael H. Weber, the writers behind the 2014 film “The Fault in Our Stars,” shall be writing the script for “The Disaster Artist.”
Not bothered by injury
Despite suffering from a recent injury playing a game of cornhole against her parents, Kate Upton is not one to be bothered as she was subsequently seen throwing a Frisbee around for her pet dog Harley, with her boyfriend, Detroit Tigers pitcher Justin Verlander, hanging around, details ET Online.
The 23-year-old supermodel and her beau had some playtime with their dog in Beverly Hills, California despite Kate obviously favoring her injured right ankle.
She was actually the one who confirmed that she sprained her right ankle when she posted on Instagram that she got the injury while celebrating her big cornhole win against her parents. She also included in the post a picture of her heavily bruised foot.
It is expected that Kate Upton would be able to heal the injury before she starts filming work on “The Disaster Artist.”
Meanwhile, being in the cover of a fashion magazine is nothing new to the supermodel-turned-actress Kate Upton, but it still adds up to her reputation as one of the world’s most popular cover girls.
She has added another one to her collection, highlighted of course by her stints as the cover of the very popular Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition, as she graced the cover of the December issue of Harper’s Bazaar Australia.
In the accompanying interview, the 23-year-old Kate Upton describes herself as goofy, confident, and sassy. She also says that in dealing with negative comments and criticisms about her in public, she just do her best in what she does all the time. She adds that the bad things that people say about her only fuel her to succeed.
Kate points out that some people on social media can be rude and cruel, but she has reached the point where she have decided to feel sorry about them instead of being angry or annoyed. She said it’s not worth spending all the energy to hate people whom she has never even met.
In the magazine cover, Kate Upton once again does the pin-up look of Hollywood icon, Marilyn Monroe, while wearing a Stella McCartney trench coat and plenty of diamonds to boot.
