The first time that she drew national attention was when she made the cover of the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition not too long ago.
Now, Kate Upton has been thrust once again into the national limelight after criticizing NFL players who decided to kneel down during the national anthem instead of stand, just before a game on the historic and fateful day of 9/11 for Americans.
Upton condemned sitting or kneeling down during a rendition of the national anthem describing it as a disgrace to veterans and those Americans still serving the military, reports The Independent of UK.
She also tweeted that the gesture of the NFL players is unacceptable because they should be proud to be Americans especially on 9/11 when they should support each other.
The NFL players decided to kneel during the national anthem on 9/11 to protest against racial injustice in the US.
San Franciso 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick was the first to raise the issue of racism in America in the NFL when he refused in August to stand for the national anthem before a game. He said back then that he would not stand and show pride for a country that oppresses people of color.
Kaepernick’s protest was emulated by a number of athletes who refused to stand during the national anthem. He continued his protest with his teammate Eric Reidn while Antoine Bethea and Eli Harold raised their fists in the air.
The San Francisco 49ers quarterback’s protests have engendered a dialogue about racism in America amid growing racial tensions and instances of police brutality. The Black Lives Matter movement launched in 2013 continues to gain momentum and has garnered support from some of the most high-profile artists in the world after fatal shootings of black citizens by police.
Missing the point
One of the athletes who support the protest also tweeted to debunk Kate Upton’s claim that what they are doing is un-American.
He told the supermodel that if she thinks what they are doing is un-American then she does not understand the country at all.
He explained that they are kneeling down because they are Americans. They are black Americans that have to face racism on a daily basis. Racism does not sleep and police brutality does not stop as well just because it is 9/11.
In her image post on Instagram, four team members of the Miami Dolphins were shown kneeling down during the singing of the national anthem on Sunday, and Upton captioned by it saying that President Obama’s election to the White House was evidence of the opportunities afforded to all Americans, regardless of their race, details Yahoo! Celebrity.
She explained that in her opinion, the national anthem is a symbolic song about the US. It represents honoring the many brave men and women who sacrifice and have sacrificed their lives each and every single day to protect the American freedom.
More horrific than 9/11
Upton went on with her ballistics by saying that sitting down during the national anthem on September 11 is even more horrific.
She said that people could protest all they want and use social media all they want but during the nearly two minutes when the national anthem is playing, everyone should put their hands on their heart and be proud of American for they are truly blessed.
The supermodel said that the lessons of 9/11 should teach Americans that if they all come together, the world can be a better and more peaceful place.
In another news, Kate Upton is too confident that everything about her is real that she recently took an indirect swipe on the Kardashian clan when she posted a Snapchat selfie showing her puckered-up lips.
The clincher of the shade was in the caption when the 24-year-old wrote that she looked like a Kardashian, nose job and all.
Some critics believe that Upton is waging a late war with the Kardashians while others are saying that she meant her Snapchat selfie and its caption as more like a joke.

If Kate wants to lecture abut what we veterans and service members feel about this she is missing one easily obtainable qualification, all she has to do is see a recruiter and enlist. If you have not done that do no t be asinine to attempt to speak for those of us that have. she has the right to speak for herself she does not have the t right to speak for veterans like myself or anyone else. I find her action far more disrespectful to veterans than what Colin K is doing, other veterans disagree but I do not attempt to speak for them.
