Kate Upton had the entire social media to her attention when she posted on January 15 an Instagram photo hinting that her boyfriend Justin Verlander, pitcher of the Detroit Tigers, already popped the question to her.
It turns out later that the proposal was a fake and that was merely a joke by Kate Upton – a joke that nearly got everyone fooled and had the social media abuzz with her supposed engagement, reports Fox Sports.
The 22-year-old supermodel posted a photo of a dinner plate with the words “Marry Me?” written in ketchup. The three answer options were yes, duh and of course, which seemed to be part of the joke.
When word got to Kate that she has created not just a stir but a frenzy in the social media, she eventually deleted the picture.
She then tweeted: “Everyone ruined my joke. That’s what #justkidding means. That’s it’s a joke. Get it?
Observers believe that the Instagram post may have just been a joke from Kate Upton but it is likely that she is preparing everyone for a future announcement.
Kate and Justin began dating in 2012. They broke up a year later and got back together shortly. They also had to endure a nude photo scandal in August 2014 so their relationship has been through a lot already that makes them just about right for marriage.
Verlander really proposed?
OK! Magazine had a different take on the story, revealing that the Detroit Tigers pitcher did actually propose to the ‘sexiest woman alive’ during the recent holidays but struck out.
While Verlander is used to striking out players from the baseball mound on Major League Baseball (MLB), the 31-year-old struck out big time when the supermodel said no to his proposal.
Verlander and Upton have been dating for two years and the Detroit Tigers pitcher thought it was just about right to propose to his girl via a romantic holiday proposal.
Apparently, Kate is not yet ready to be a wife and she feels that it would take several more years for her to be able to reach that stage in her life. She is also confident that Justin will wait for him when she says that it’s already the right time for the two of them to finally settle down.
A source close to Justin says that the Detroit Tigers pitcher would most likely wait for Kate until she finally says yes because he considers the supermodel his ‘dream girl’ whom he wants to spend the rest of his life with.
The report also said that it was not the first time for Kate to receive a proposal for marriage. She also got a proposal from Stuff the Magic Dragon, the Orlando Magic basketball team mascot, while she was watching an Orlando game last year.
She naturally said no to the mascot so if there’s any consolation to Justin Verlander, he was not the first to have been rejected by Kate Upton for a marriage proposal.
