Last Saturday, the Royal Family gathered to celebrate the 89th birthday of the Queen with a parade, “Trooping the Colour”. This is an annual tradition in the country that’s actually not related to the birth date of the Queen – which is on April 21 – and is said to bring better weather in the coming months over the year. The parade involves over a thousand soldiers and hundreds of horses from the Household Division, marching on along with 200 musicians from several different bands combined to play as one.
We saw Prince Charles – Colonel of the Welsh Guards, among his other titles – as well as Princess Anne, who is Colonel of the Blues and Royals, and the Duke of Cambridge, Colonel of the Irish Guards. They were all riding on horseback during the parade, and just like always, the event was well organized and beautifully decorated.
The original purpose of this tradition was to make sure that troops would be able to always instantly recognize their own flag in the heat of battle, which is why the regiments have to carry the flag during the annually held event now. Of course, the original point of the tradition isn’t very valid anymore, but the idea itself still stands and people are performing it just like they always have.
We also got to see Kate Middleton, who appeared in a periwinkle silk coatdress, as well as an ivory hat from Lock & Co, and this was her first public appearance ever since she gave birth to Princess Charlotte. When the parade was over, the whole family gathered together on the balcony of Buckingham Palace, where Prince George made his balcony debut, wearing the same romper that Prince William had on during the “Trooping the Colour” parade in 1984.
It looks like there’s a very busy week ahead of the Queen, with the Cartier Polo Match today as well as the Royal Ascot starting on Tuesday, and we will probably be seeing the Royal Family in the news quite often. At the same time, it looks like Kate Middleton will resume her regular public appearances, now that her pregnancy is over.
Some have commented on how her body looks after the pregnancy, commending her for managing to preserve her good appearance and true charm. She’s 33 at the moment, but still looks as young as ever, and it seems to be a big delight for many people to see her making an appearance. Hopefully, we will get more of that now that she isn’t carrying her child around anymore.
There have even been comments along the lines of “we have no idea how she does it”, and it’s pretty obvious indeed that Kate Middleton is putting some serious effort into maintaining her looks on an appropriate level. It’s not just about keeping her body toned though, as she has a good taste in clothing and isn’t shy to try out some more interesting looks and show them off to everyone.
There have been some very positive comments about her clothing in particular, and people were excited to discuss what brands she was wearing exactly. She seems to have a particular fondness for a few names that she is often seen wearing.
All in all, Kate Middleton’s self-esteem probably got a little boost this week after her appearance, as she has been getting some very positive comments from all sides, and considering that she has been out of the spotlight for some time, people are probably going to be commenting on her for a while over the next few weeks, as there is not much else to talk about with regards to her.
