When Queen Elizabeth II recently turned 90, she officially became the United Kingdom’s longest-reigning monarch and BBC marked the important milestone in her life with the airing of the most interesting documentary of the time, entitled “Our Queen at 90.”
Directed by Ashley Gething, the documentary gave a privileged access to the Queen and the many members of the Royal family that was filmed this year.
Prince Charles and his sons William and Harry were there to talk how Queen Elizabeth II inspired them while Prince Andrew and his daughters Beatrice and Eugenie cited how important the Monarch is to them, details the International Business Times of UK.
However, as expected, the most highly-anticipated input in the documentary came from Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge and the wife of Prince William.
Wearing a regal blue outfit for the interview about her grandmother-in-law, Kate Middleton revealed that the Queen was very pleased to know that their first baby was a girl. It can be recalled that William and Kate welcomed Princess Charlotte on May 2, 2015.
The 34-year-old Duchess of Cambridge said that the Queen is very fond of Charlotte and always takes an interest in what she gets up to.
Apparently, despite her stern façade to much of the public, the Queen has a very soft spot for Princess Charlotte and Prince George.
Kate pointed out that every time William’s family stays with the Monarch, the Queen always leaves a little gift for Charlotte and George in their rooms, which really shows her love for the children and the family.
Not one to give interviews
Since the Queen is not the type to grant one-on-one TV interviews, it was her close friends and family members who decided to appear in the interviews and convey her story as Monarch in the documentary.
It was actually a fitting and lengthy tribute to the monarch and also gave the viewing public a fresh insight into the royal’s life along with some intimate moments.
The documentary received wide praise on social media, with one person tweeting that the Queen is an incredible Monarch and also is the hardest working 90-year-old.
Another fan also tweeted that she loves the Queen a lot and that she is enamored with her as when she watched the program before.
A drama about the successor to the Queen
Speaking of the Royal family, there is a new drama on BBC 2 where it imagined Prince Charles as the new King of England.
The TV drama is entitled “King Charles III” and it will give fans the first look at actress Charlotte Riley playing as the Duchess of Cambridge.
Adapted from a play directed by Oliver Award-winner Rupert Goold, the TV drama features the accession of Prince Charles to the throne following the Queen’s death.
It also follows the repercussions that take place after the new King refuses to sign a controversial bill into law, reports Hello Magazine of Canada.
In a recent interview, Charlotte Riley expressed her overwhelming excitement to play the role of Kate Middleton in the TV drama.
She explained that Kate Middleton is a really interesting woman, particularly within the context of the drama and she finds it really a challenge but is nonetheless looking forward to it.
The first snap of Charlotte in her role as Kate Middleton shows the star dressed in a navy blouse with pearl earrings and Kate’s trademark bouncy blow dry, proving that the actress has perfectly captured the Duchess’s impeccable sense of style.
Meanwhile, contrary to rumors that the royal marriage of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are on the rocks, Prince William and his wife Kate Middleton is now in the process of planning a traditional festive season for their two children – Prince George and Princess Charlotte.
The plan apparently involves a lot of fun and games for the two royal kids. The royal couple will join the Queen at Sandringham for at least part of the celebrations, which also means that George and Charlotte will be reunited with their little cousins Mia Tindall, Savannah, and Isla Phillips.
