It’s official! Justin Bieber is back and is now the youngest male artist to covet the top spot via a debut single on Billboard’s Hot 100 Top Chart with his latest song “What Do You Mean?”
His latest song beat The Weeknd’s “Cant’ Feel My Face” and took the title previously held by Bauuer, who sang “Harlem Shake,” who was just two months shy of his 24th birthday before Bieber’s song reached the top spot.
Bieber’s newest song premiered at the top spot on Billboard’s Hot 100 Chart on September 8 and is the 23rd track to ever start at No. 1. “What Do You Mean?” launched with over 337,000 paid downloads, racked up more than 20 million streams on Spotify beating out One Direction’s latest single “Drag Me Down.” Also, the hit song’s music video is now stacking up almost 40 million views since it was release a few weeks ago.
Entertainment Weekly reports that Justin, who boasts more than 67 million followers on Twitter, has been heavily promoting what he considers his comeback single even asking his celeb friends to aid in the countdown of the song’s arrival such as Ellen Degeneres and Ariana Grande among others.
Well, it certainly looks like all his hard work has paid off. Bieber’s manager, Scooter Braun says he’s very happy that Justin is doing what he does best and that is music. Steve Bartels, CEO of Def Jam says that ‘What Do You Mean?’ taking the top spot is a reminder of what a significant global star Justin has become.
Bartel adds that while this is definitely a historic accomplishment for the 21-year-old singer, it’s also just the beginning of the excitement that lies ahead for all Beliebers around the world.
‘What Do You Mean?’ may be the Canadian singer’s first chart-topper, but he’s no stranger to the higher tiers of the Hot 100. When his song ‘Boyfriend’ was released in 2012, it previously hit No. 2. His latest track is actually his seventh top 10 hit—and his second this year, as he was the featured vocalist on Diplo and Skrillex’s ‘Where Are You Now’—and his 47th appearance in the top 100 as per Billboard.
Bieber dropped his latest song after a hiatus and a month-long hype aided by the help of his friends like Ed Sheeran, Shaquille O ‘Neal, and Kendal Jenner.
Justin performed the single for the first time at this year’s MTV Video Music Awards where he got very emotional after being overwhelmed by the love and support he felt from his fans. The music video for ‘What Do You Mean?’ was uploaded in YouTube a few hours after his VMA performance.
The ‘Never Say Never’ singer is definitely marking his return with good graces. ‘What Do You Mean’ is part of his upcoming fourth studio album slated to be released this November 13. EW reports that the pop singer’s forthcoming album is deemed his most personal album as it contains Bieber’s most confessional tracks to date.
As part of his return, the ‘As Long As You Love Me’ hitmaker will also be hitting the big screen next year as part of Zoolander 2 and while it all seems that all is well with the popstar’s life right now, his latest interview suggests that matters of the heart has taken a toll on him.

When asked who will he be bringing to the his show in Australia, the ‘Baby’ singer reveals that there’s no one special in his life right now and it’s because he got his heart really broken and it apparently was too much for him to bear.
