Just Cause 3 PC Version Updated with Massive Patch, Bringing Lots of Fixes!

Avalanche Software have been hard at work on “Just Cause 3”, and the studio is obviously dedicated to making the most from the game and pleasing their fans as much as possible. We’ve already seen this quite clearly before, as they not only put a lot of work into “Just Cause 2”, but actually went ahead and greenlit a fan-made modification to be distributed officially on Steam. Now, “Just Cause 3” has already been enjoying a lot of attention, and it looks like things are about to get even better for fans of the company playing on the PC.

Currently, the game has some issues that have been around pretty much since it launched, most notably in the performance department. The strange thing, according to most fans, is that it seems to suffer from those performance issues even on more powerful computers, leading many to believe that the title simply hasn’t been optimized properly and could use some technological improvements. According to some, it doesn’t make proper use of SLI, and it’s not known if this will be patched in at a later point.

And while many users expected the new major update to focus on the performance issues, it doesn’t seem to be the perfect solution to that problem just yet. On one hand, some are indeed reporting that their game runs more smoothly and predictably ever since updating to the latest version, but on the other, there are also plenty of users reporting basically no change after installing the new update.

Still, the update is quite massive – it’s about 1.1 GB in size – so it does bring various changes and additions to the game, but the performance fixes specifically will apparently have to wait a little longer. Avalanche haven’t commented on the situation yet and we don’t know if they will actually give an official statement before they’re ready to bring the performance updates to the market. Some users have been trying to get in touch with the company for more information, judging by discussions on messaging boards, but without much luck.

From what we can tell, most reports of improved performance as a result of this update seem to be random and unrelated, and some of the users who have shared their system configurations indicate that there doesn’t even seem to be any direct relation to the hardware of the player with regards to their performance after the patch.

According to some publications, Avalanche should be very careful with their moves right now. They still have a lot of goodwill from their fans as they’ve managed to build up a solid reputation over the years, but we’re not sure how much longer that could last if they continue to ignore the performance issues of their current game and instead focus on other aspects of its development. We’ve already seen what happens in those cases from other developers, and it definitely was not pretty then.

Most recently, games in the “Batman” series suffered from performance issues on the PC upon their release, and this caused a lot of backlash against the developers. Those issues continued to be ignored for even more time which added to the aggravation of fans, and in the end many people will likely be wary about purchasing another “Batman” game in the future unless they get some reassurance by the developers that there are no issues when it launches. Even then, we expect that people will put off buying the game until they’re sure that it offers a quality experience.
