While it’s been known for a while now that the new entry into the “Jurassic” franchise is going to shake things up a bit and introduce new elements into the mix that haven’t been seen in any of the previous movies, the latest information on the subject seems to be a bit of a surprise to most fans, regardless of their expectations. According to the latest revelation about the production, one new dinosaur that will be introduced in “Jurassic World” will be the Indominus Rex, with the unusual thing about it being that it has actual human genes spliced in!
The dinosaur’s original working name was the D-Rex, short for Diabolus Rex, although the producers decided to change it to its current title at some point. It’s interesting to note that the producers refer to the dinosaur as a “she” whenever they mention it, and it’s possible that there will only be a female version of the dinosaur featured in the new film.
From what’s known from current reports, the Indominus Rex will be “highly intelligent”, and also very brutal and ruthless, targeting anything it spots and thirsty for blood. This is actually hinted by the creature’s very name, which literally means “unable to be tamed”.
It’s not yet known how the dinosaur got its human genes, and it’s likely that this will be a major part of the new episode’s plot. However, major fan speculations are pointing at the possibility that the dinosaur was an attempt to genetically engineer an intelligent breed of dinosaurs for unknown reasons – perhaps even military ones.
This could also coincide with previous reports about a script that had been written for “Jurassic Park IV”, which featured much more intelligent dinosaurs, capable of even using human weapons. These were apparently even closer to the human-dinosaur hybrid idea that’s being explored in “Jurassic World”, and those who had a chance to see the script in the past have referred to it as very frightening, even more than the original films in the series.
And indeed, the original depictions of the dinosaurs in the first films were scary enough, but adding intelligent thought and planning into the mix could really bring things to the next level, and transform this franchise into one of the most memorable lines of horror films in existence. It’s clear that the producers of “Jurassic World” are aiming to create something truly memorable, the only question is how far they’re willing to push the franchise in order to achieve that. It’s worth keeping in mind that at some point, fans might start feeling disappointed with the changes made to their favorite franchise, if they are too many at the same time.
