‘Jurassic World 2’ to Sustain Plotline of Having Precocious Kids Run from Dinosaurs Going Berserk

The sequel to the 2015 hit dinosaur movie “Jurassic World” tentatively titled as “Jurassic World 2” will be hitting theaters on June 22, 2018.

Latest reports have it that casting is almost complete and filming might start sometime early next year.

However, critics are looking more closely into the recent audition for a nine-year-old little girl who would likely join Owen Grady, played by Chris Pratt, and Claire Dearing, played by Bryce Dallas Howard, run away from dinosaurs which are going berserk.

“Jurassic World 2” is technically “Jurassic Park 5” and it has been a tradition of the franchise to see precocious kids running away from dinosaurs and the legacy would continue on in the upcoming movie, notes Slash Film.

This was confirmed when a few weeks ago, the movie made a casting call for a character named Lucy in “Jurassic World 2.”

The casting breakdown for the child role was posted on the movie’s casting website and it called for a young girl of nine years of age. She must be at least nine years of age by February 2017 but cannot be over 10 years old.

The casting call went on to say that the child must be sensitive and clever actress capable of handling long and complex scenes. The website added that Lucy must be able to handle a range of emotions from tender moments with her father, to anxiety, bravery, and shock.

The site also said that the role represents a huge and exciting opportunity for a young actress to play a significant role in a major Hollywood blockbuster.

It is still not clear how this Lucy character will figure into the lives of returning characters, Claire Dearing and Owen Grady.

To feature weaponized dinosaurs

The rumors are also fairly consistent in saying that “Jurassic World 2” might feature weaponized dinosaurs after what fans saw in the Indominus rex in “Jurassic World.”

These were based on what Vincent D’Onofrio’s character Vic Hoskins did during “Jurassic World.” It could be recalled that Hoskins pushed hard to turn raptors into weapons for war, and going by what “Jurassic World” Director Colin Trevorrow has to say, it looks like this plotline is something that’ll be explored in the follow-up film.

Trevorrow said that it will not be just a bunch of dinosaurs chasing people on an island because that will get old real fast.

He also assured fans that “Jurassic World 2” director J.A. Bayona will bring a different flavor to the sequel. He said that he does not think that the movie would feature bigger and better dinosaurs but it would have more epic-in-scope action sequences which are what people necessarily look for from the franchise and what they love about it, details Digital Spy.

Ready to roll the cameras

Meanwhile, Director J.A. Bayona of “Jurassic World 2” appears all set to roll the cameras soon as casting for the film is slowly being completed especially with the addition of Rafe Spall and Toby Jones recently.

The respective roles of the two actors have yet to be disclosed and the only casting confirmation before the addition of Spall and Jones are the return of Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard.

Rafe Spall was best known for his roles in “Prometheus” and “Hot Fuzz,” while Toby Jones had on his acting plate stints in “Tinker Taylor Soldier Spy,” “Captain America: First Avenger,” and “Captain America: The Winter Soldier.”

In addition to playing Millburn in “Prometheus,” Spall also starred in several other well-known films, including “Life of Pi” and “The Big Short.”

Jones, on the other hand, starred as Dr. Arnim Zola in the first two “Captain America” films and also played Claudius Templesmith in the “The Hunger Games” movies.

Reports also have it that the producers took it to task to finalize the actors for the two parts now taken on by Spall and Jones before they proceed to test or audition for another pair of key roles in “Jurassic World 2.”
