‘Jurassic World 2’ is Going to Be Darker But Would Also be a Lot of Fun, Reveals Director J.A. Bayona

Filming for the sequel to the fourth most successful movie of all time, “Jurassic World,” shall begin in February next year and Director Juan Antonio ‘J.A.’ Bayona said in a recent interview that the film is going to be darker.

However, he also assured fans that the movie is also going to be a lot of fun. He is optimistic that “Jurassic World 2” will also be a blockbuster since the movie shall once again feature the bankable Chris Pratt, notes the Den of Geek.

Bayona said that the movie is going to be a great adventure and it would be a very interesting one because “Jurassic World 2” is going to be darker than the other ones, referring to “Jurassic World” and the “Jurassic Park” film trilogy.

The director also said that he knows for a fact that the “Jurassic Park” and “Jurassic World” movies are Steven Spielberg’s babies so he promises to take care of the offsprings of the critically-acclaimed director and producer as much as possible by knowing where he stands all the time.

From a previous film location of Hawaii, latest reports have it that “Jurassic World 2” will begin filming in February in London.

A learning experience

Director Bayona also said that he is going to be working with Steven Spielberg for “Jurassic World 2,” regarding it as an exciting experience. It is one of the main reasons why he agreed to direct the film despite the pressure of having to top off the good work of Colin Trevorrow in “Jurassic World,” released in June 2015.

He added that he is also positive that it is going to be a learning experience for him as well as for those who will be part of the production of the movie.

Bayona has had several film titles under his belt but “Jurassic World 2” is going to be his biggest to date as a director.

He is confident that his work on “A Monster Calls” has given him both experience with larger-than-life special effects and a Spielberg-esque sense of child-like wonder, details Screen Rant.

Some critics also note that “Jurassic World 2” may help J.A. Bayona nurture his directing craft and possibly result to an even more universally-loved chapter of the franchise.

The need for a kid in the film

The sequel to the 2015 hit dinosaur movie “Jurassic World” tentatively titled as “Jurassic World 2” will be hitting theaters on June 22, 2018.

Latest reports have it that casting is almost complete and filming would start in February.

However, critics are looking more closely into the recent audition for a nine-year-old little girl who would likely join Owen Grady, played by Chris Pratt, and Claire Dearing, played by Bryce Dallas Howard, run away from dinosaurs which are going berserk.

“Jurassic World 2” is technically “Jurassic Park 5” and it has been a tradition of the franchise to see precocious kids running away from dinosaurs and the legacy would continue on in the upcoming movie.

This was confirmed when a few weeks ago, the movie made casting call for a character named Lucy in “Jurassic World 2.”

The casting call for the child role was posted on the movie’s casting website and it called for a young girl of 9 years of age. She must be at least 9 years of age by February 2017 but cannot be over 10 years old.

The casting call went on to say that the child must be sensitive and clever actress capable of handling long and complex scenes. The website added that Lucy must be able to handle a range of emotions from tender moments with her father, to anxiety, bravery, and shock.
