The kangaroo which hops around the Vatican Gardens is a combined creation of CGI and production designer Ludovica Ferrario. Ferrario said that it was impossible to find a trained kangaroo in Italy.
Therefore, it was necessary for people working on post-production, to figure out the actual volume of the animal in the scene as well as for other actors to determine its full presence. Therefore, they decided with the series creator, to make two kangaroos, that come in various positions and shapes.
There were ongoing researches to find hide that might cover their mock-ups, they finally decided to paint those two creatures green. The result was a green screen carefully modeled inside the scene, and they began skillfully processing every detail in post-production.
It explained how Jude Law was able to interact with the creature when he discovered it beneath a tarp-covered cage. He immediately starts to like the creature, saving it from being given to a zoo, for releasing it in the church gardens. Therefore, viewers can imagine that the kangaroo will appear in the future episodes of the series.
Overall, the show appears to be great even though sometimes, it appears to be a farce. However, even then, it is a self-aware one.
