The Australian leg of the filming of “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales” has wrapped up and it seems like the production crew have enjoyed the location so much that many of them are proclaiming, short of endorsing actually, that the next sequel of the pirate movie franchise will likely be held again there sometime in the future.
But if lead star Johnny Depp, who plays Captain Jack Sparrow in the movie, is to be asked and his wife Amber Heard, they have no plans of returning to the Land Down Under anytime soon after what their dogs and themselves have been subjected to by the local Ministry of Agriculture sometime in the middle of May.
After taking a break in the filming of the movie for his injured hand early in March, Johnny Depp returned to the set in the third week of April along with wife Amber and their two Yorkshire terriers Pistol and Boo onboard his private jet.
Apparently, the two pet dogs have not been declared with the Australian Customs. So when Australian Agriculture Minister Barnaby Joyce learned about Johnny Depp’s dogs after owners of a Gold Coast dog grooming salon posted photos of them online, the Minister threatened them with euthanasia unless the animals are sent back to the US immediately.
Johnny Depp and Amber Heard obviously need no convincing regarding the Minister’s threat because they are also aware that their pet dogs have slipped into the country without any documentation and thus were ‘illegal aliens.’
So they spared no time in commissioning a Challenger 604 wide-bodied corporate jet in sending home their pet dogs back to the US accompanied by Amber Heard. The charter was reported to have cost the celebrity couple $300,000.
Avoiding the Land Down Under
In a recent interview during the “Magic Mike XXL” press junket in the US, Amber Heard took a swipe at Australian Minister for Agriculture Barnaby Joyce when she said that they would be avoiding the Land Down Under from now on as much as they can, due in part to certain politicians there.
Without really mentioning the name of the Australian minister, Amber said that everyone always tries to go for their 15 minutes of fame, including some government officials, details the Daily Mail.
For his part, Minister Joyce said that his department is looking into the breach of Australia’s biosecurity laws in May 2015 and the investigation on the matter is still continuing.
Heard explained that one of the pooches “Pistol” was with her during the press event and that the dog was doing fine.
The 29-year-old actress has been making the media rounds lately to promote the movie “Magic Mike XXL” where she stars opposite Channing Tatum and Jada Pinkett-Smith.
Fairly normal marriage
Amber Heard says that her marriage with Johnny Depp seems normal contrary to rumors swirling around.
Like most other couples who are both working, they do struggle to find time for each other. He said that they both do their best to make the marriage work even if both of them have separate lives. She admits that the biggest challenge is to find time to be together, details The Record.
