Jeremy Lin Starts Off-Season Training Optimistic that 2015-16 NBA Season Would be Better for Him

After the regular season ended and the woeful Los Angeles Lakers posted a 21-61 win-loss record, point guard Jeremy Lin felt drained and lazy afterwards.

He said he felt that he was worn out during the entire regular season, not likely from playing more than 70 of the total of 82 games but from the rough and tumble year that he had to go through playing for the Los Angeles Lakers.

But after three weeks of staying away from basketball, he felt that the sport was calling him again so he went back and began his off-season training. Jeremy Lin was even reported to have been working out with now-retired Steve Nash in a Los Angeles Lakers practice facility.

Obviously, Jeremy Lin is still part of the Showtime franchise until after he signs a free agency offer from another team.

Missed opportunity

He and Nash never had the opportunity to play on court with the Lakers together despite being teammates for one year as the future Hall-of-Famer point guard had a season-ending injury right before the start of the 2014-15 NBA season, notes the International Business Times.

There have been reports that at least seven teams are interested in getting the services of Jeremy Lin, with the frontrunner being the Denver Nuggets because it will take on a new head coach in Mike D’Antoni.

D’Antoni was the coach of Jeremy Lin during his short-lived Linsanity days with the New York Knicks during the 2011-12 NBA season. In an interview last month, D’Antoni said that he would like to have Jeremy Lin in his team if he is given the opportunity to do so.

With D’Antoni just awaiting for his official appointment as the new head coach of the Denver Nuggets, it is likely that his first order of business is to get a point guard for his team, whom he has known for some time. And there’s no other point guard in the free agency whom he knows better than the 26-year-old Harvard graduate.

Renewed optimism

Jeremy Lin would be welcoming the 2015-16 NBA season with renewed optimism following a tumultuous one-year stint with the Los Angeles Lakers.

It would be his sixth NBA season and assuming that the Denver Nuggets acquired him as a free agent, it would be his fifth team in six years.

Jeremy Lin

Although undrafted, he was taken in by the Golden State Warriors during the 2010-11 season but was waived the following year. He certainly can’t find a spot in the team with Stephen Curry at the point guard position effectively and productively doing well.
