Jeremy Lin is very popular online. Any topic about him usually becomes viral on the internet, regardless of whether it is true or not, or whether it is positive or negative about him. Those actually speak a lot about how popular he is, being the only player in the NBA right now who has Chinese or Taiwanese descent.
But the media or other news or blog sites should know that the 27-year-old Harvard graduate actually does not read articles written about him at all in the course of the NBA season.
He disclosed that during the season, he does not read any article that discusses him. He added that he does not read any Twitter comments, Instagram, Facebook, or anything related to him because he does not want to be influenced by what everybody else says or thinks about him, notes the Charlotte Observer.
In fact, during the same interview, he told the reporter that if the latter would be writing a story about him, he is not going to read it without meaning to be offensive at all.
It is perhaps because of this reason why he remains a mystery to a lot of people including the media that is why they always try to get an opportunity to talk to him and write something about him that has not been written in the past.
An ordinary and dull guy
Whenever he is off the court, Jeremy Lin says that he is very much an ordinary and a dull guy because he is a homebody.
He is mildly obsessed with playing the video game “DoTA 2” and he prefers to stay in the comforts of his home, hotel, or apartment whenever he is not on the court playing for the Charlotte Hornets. Lin also does not say whether he is dating someone right now or in the past.
That is why the only connection of fans and people to him is every time he suits up and does his thing with the Hornets, which is currently battling with the Miami Heat in the first round of the Eastern Conference playoffs in the NBA.
Jeremy Lin certainly had a good year in Charlotte compared to last year when he nearly lost his confidence playing alongside Kobe Bryant and the Los Angeles Lakers. It was perhaps the lowest point of his basketball career and it was certainly far worse than his two-year stint with the Houston Rockets.
But Lin has made a career turnaround with the Hornets this year and is even being considered for a Sixth Man of the Year honors early in the season. But his inconsistency of late has made a telling impact on his nomination that he may not be given the award later on.
Extremely happy for the team
Lin says that he is extremely happy for Charlotte because they won 48 games this season, which was more than double they had when he played with the Lakers last year with only 21 victories.
But he has learned to let go of his past with his former teams. In fact, everyone can see that he is smiling more often now in court and he is also celebrating more even as he keeps on letting his hair down or up, both figuratively and literally.
He admits that this year is his best season in the NBA individually. He added that he enjoyed this season significantly more than any other of his past five seasons in the NBA.
He said that life is more low-key in Charlotte compared to when he played for New York or Los Angeles. There is hardly any distraction in North Carolina as much as there are plenty in high-profile cities and states.
