Aside from an entirely different team in the Brooklyn Nets, his sixth in his seven years in the NBA, Jeremy Lin shall reportedly be showcasing his new set of different hairstyles once the 2016-17 NBA season gets underway.
Apart from his ‘Linsanity’ days with the New York Knicks during the 2011-12 NBA season, and for being a reliable sixth man on the bench of the Charlotte Hornets last year, one other thing that helps fans remember Lin on the court are his various hairstyles, which seem to have been his trademark.
As much as he gets criticisms for his kind of play on the court, he also gets a few verbal backlashes from fans when it comes to his hairstyles, some of which really look ridiculous.
He had his changing hair styles up on display last season while playing for the Hornets and since the team went all the way to the Eastern Conference playoffs, Jeremy Lin’s hairdos were in the spotlight a little longer than expected.
But it looks like it would not be changing anytime soon as reports have it that the 27-year-old Harvard graduate is ready to sport his new hairdos as the starting point guard of the Brooklyn Nets comes the upcoming NBA season courtesy of his nephew, Jaden Peter Lim.
As a matter of fact, Lin showed off another new hairstyle recently which he is likely to sport once the NBA training camp kicks off next month. The new haircut is described by critics as being as odd and unique as the one he has been wearing in the past, but this one could be his last, reports Yibada.
Appearing in a music video
Reports have it that the new hairdo of Jeremy Lin is part of his makeover to be part of a music video alongside Taiwanese celebrity Jay Chou.
Chou is the actor who played Kato in the movie “The Green Hornet” and his team-up with Jeremy Lin in the music video actually allowed the NBA star to show off his dance moves.
While he did the music video on the side during the off-season, it is expected that Jeremy Lin will buckle down to work once the NBA training camp starts especially with his partnership with new Brooklyn Nets head coach Kenny Atkinson under the microscope not only by the Nets fans but by the owners of the ballclub and critics as well.
Though Lin is no longer as popular as he once was in the NBA, his fans in the East are always happy to see what Linsanity is up to during his free time away from the court.
Jeremy Lin needs to prove himself and the pressure is a bit higher on him this time around since he is getting paid approximately $12 million per year with the Nets compared to last year when he agreed to play for the Hornets at a paltry $2.2 million per year.
Critics also believe that Lin needs to stand up and show himself as the new leader of the Brooklyn Nets and ensure that his partnership with big man Brook Lopez bear dividends for the team as the management wishes it to be, which is why the team is being referred to already as Brook-Lin.
A big loss to any team
In addition to his excellent play as a player, one other thing that makes Jeremy Lin a big loss to any team in the NBA is his immense popularity especially in China, arguably the largest market of the league outside of America.
In fact, former teammate Marvin Williams of the Charlotte Hornets was all praises for the kind of popularity that Jeremy Lin has in China.
He recalled last year that when they went to China, that was only when he personally realized the level of global popularity of Jeremy Lin. Williams said that he has never seen anything like that and he even described it as the most unbelievable thing he has ever seen.
Williams narrated that when they landed and the door opened, there were instantly people rushing to the place with cameras trying to find Jeremy Lin, describing the situation as crazy, details the Christian Times.
The entry of Jeremy Lin to any other NBA team automatically increases the team’s fanbase and his departure also diminishes the fanbase of the team which is why he is considered often as a big loss to any team.
