Jeremy Lin Put on the Trade Block? Lakers Eyeing to Send Point Guard to Eastern Conference Team

With a woeful win-loss record almost midway to the 2014-15 NBA season, the Los Angeles Lakers are finding all reasons (read: excuses) why they are still in a rut despite showing signs of occasional brilliance in big games.

Now reports have it that the Lakers are contemplating of trading point guard Jeremy Lin possibly to an Eastern Conference team to possibly infuse new blood to the team.

While Lin leads the Lakers in the assist department, his playing style seems to be in contrast with that of Kobe Bryant and he often gets a dressing down from the Black Mamba either during the games or outside of it.

Leave it to Kobe Bryant to spell out why the team cannot get its bearings but he would most certainly not mention how his too much shooting has been costing Lakers most games.

With a 37% shooting this season, which is the worst in his 18-year NBA career, and a very poor 27% shooting from the perimeter, Bryant should rethink his offensive options now that he is already in the twilight of his basketball career.

Trading Lin to another team would not solve Bryant’s shooting problem. But the Lakers have to find another ruse to appease its superstar and the Harvard graduate is the best option for a trade.

Going back to the Eastern Conference?

The Latin Post reported that the Lakers are looking to trade Jeremy Lin to the Miami Heat, the Indiana Pacers, or the Detroit Pistons.

Doing so would send back Lin to the Eastern Conference where he first exhibited Linsanity more than three years ago, while donning the New York Knicks uniform.

After signing with the Houston Rockets before the start of the 2012-13 NBA season for a three-year $25 million contract, the Lakers acquired the last year of Lin’s contract for $8.3 million at the start of the current NBA season.

The Gospel Herald confirmed the interest of the Miami Heat in getting the services of Lin but the team is already on the tax threshold and it would not be able to select one or few players from its current roster to match the salary of Lin and consummate the deal.

More years ahead

Jeremy Lin, who has been taking all these trade rumors in the most professional manner as a Harvard graduate should, remains optimistic of his future in the NBA.

His recent post on Facebook indicated that he is excited about his journey in the NBA since breaking into the NBA D-League in the summer of 2010. He was first taken in by the Golden State Warriors at the start of the 2010-11 season but was used quite sparingly.

Jeremy Lin

Barely five years old in the NBA, Jeremy Lin has all the right reasons to be positive since there is obviously more years ahead of him in the league who already knows his basketball abilities.

  1. Kobe should stop blaming everyone else on lakers losing season . He should first look at himself .Kobe -get a mirror, look at your self and say – I’m an ass and we are losing because I’m not as good as I used to be !

  2. Poor Lakers… They are stuck with an aging super star who is not able to help the team growth…
