He added that he does not have any fear that the Nets cannot compete against the good teams of NBA. But because of their current composition, he thinks that they have a much smaller margin of error. He is confident though that one day they could really be a good team. The only question is how good can they be or how soon the players want it to happen.
When asked to define how he can focus on his leadership role, Lin lists a few answers before settling on a particular word which is culture.
That culture will start with their new point guard. There might not be the glitz and glamor of Linsanity, but watching Lin figure out whether he can mature into a starting point guard and leader of an NBA team has its own appeal too.
Incidentally, Jeremy Lin was referred to by Carmelo Anthony of the New York Knicks recently as the new franchise player for the Brooklyn Nets. But the 27-year-old Harvard graduate merely shrugged it off.
Lin said that he is not worried at all about the so-called franchise player moniker because he does not really think much about what people on the outside of the organization are saying.
