Jeremy Lin Could Also Consider Returning to the New York Knicks if Given the Opportunity

While there have been reports last week that if the Los Angeles Lakers would let go of young point guard Jordan Clarkson during the off-season, the Showtime franchise would likely work on re-signing Jeremy Lin to its roster in order to provide a spark in the position coming off the bench.

That is of course in addition to the possibility of the Lakers being able to lure into its fold the services of Rajon Rondo in the upcoming off-season. After the Houston Rockets eliminated the Dallas Mavericks in five games on April 28, it seems likely that Rondo may finally take Kobe Bryant’s offer to play with him and the Lakers to make his last hurrah with the purple and gold team memorable.

In the event that Jeremy Lin is asked to re-sign with the Lakers as a free agent, it also seems likely that the team shall asked him for a more suitable rate which should be less than the $8.3 million per year contract that he got from the team this season in the final year of his $25 million three-year contract he signed with the Houston Rockets.

Joining Mike D’Antoni

There have also been reports in mid-April that Mike D’Antoni will likely be chosen to become the new head coach of Denver Nuggets to replace the fired coach Brian Shaw after the regular season ended.

Apparently, D’Antoni has set his sights on getting the services of Jeremy Lin when he officially takes on the coaching job at Denver Nuggets.

It can be recalled that it was during his stint with the New York Knicks four years ago that the 23-year-old Harvard graduate produced his Linsanity days while filling in for the injured Carmelo Anthony. The team’s coach back then was D’Antoni.

New York option

Hoops Habit thinks that Jeremy Lin should also consider looking into the possibility of re-joining the New York Knicks via the free agency market, assuming that he gets the offer from the Phil Jackson-managed franchise.

The site explained that the point guard spot of the New York Knicks for next season shall only have the sweet-shooting Jose Calderon who has been signed through the 2016-17 NBA season as well as Langston Galloway, who has been signed for next season to. The Knicks are already expected to lose to the free agency Alex Shved and Shane Larkin.

Calderon may be a solid shooter alright and he takes care of the ball well but apparently he is already on the wrong side of his prime. Galloway put together some solid performances last season, but was predictably all over the board.

In order to bounce back from a very disappointing campaign in the current NBA season by almost finishing dead last, the Knicks need to have a solid backup point guard who have been in the spotlight before.

jeremy lin

The Knicks could certainly make use of Jeremy Lin by bringing him as the first or second guy off the bench, which would lessen the pressure on him and he could play freely and produce. Lin would also be a prize catch for the Knicks considering the dearth of point guards in the free agency market during the off-season.
