Jeremy Lin Admits He Likes Playing ‘Dota 2’ as Much as He Does Playing Basketball

Charlotte Hornets point guard Jeremy Lin is an avid “Dota 2” player and he is not shy of admitting that he likes playing the video game as much as he likes playing basketball.

He revealed that during the regular NBA season, he plays a decent amount of “Dota 2” because he goes to the hotel after games on the road so he plays practically every night, or three times a week at the very least, notes the Bleacher Report.

Jeremy Lin also explained that the five-on-five nature of the video game also needs an atmosphere of teamwork which is also the same in the game of basketball.

So when people ask him why he is so into “Dota” or “Dota 2,” Jeremy says that the video game is like basketball. It’s 5-on-5 and there are three types of positions too. He added that as players go on the higher levels of the game, it’s all about teamwork and it’s all about how everyone in the team performs their roles. That is the very same essence of playing basketball and is always the key to team victories.

Guest analyst

To show his love and passion for the video game, Jeremy Lin took part in the 2015 International “Dota 2” Championship held on August 3 where he provided a little analysis of the tournament and context for those gaming newbies at home.

He also tweeted his excitement on that same afternoon for being part of the tournament when he posted that he had a blast at the tournament’s analyst desk citing that the energy is quite insane.

Lin is one of the many NBA players who are into gaming although a number of them would rather not talk about it as their coach, teammates, and even fans might consider it as a distraction to their game on court.

It is not clear if the 26-year-old Harvard graduate was heavy into “Dota” or “Dota 2” when he was playing for the Los Angeles Lakers during the past NBA season.

Jeremy hits back at fan tweet

The player who was once referred to as Linsanity is not the type of player who would respond to criticism or trash talk. He is too refined for that considering that he is also a graduate of Harvard University.

However, there is a limit to his patience and it happened on social media just recently. Lin made an innocent tweet about Ronda Rousey’s 34-second demolition of Bethe Correia in Brazil on August 1 and said that the woman fighter is really scary.

One fan then took a swipe at him and his ability to take care of the ball for the Houston Rockets during the first round of the series against the Portland Trailblazers during the 2014 NBA Playoffs.

While it’s true that Lin made a lot of errors in the series including a key turnover that allowed the Blazers to tie the game at the buzzer and grind out a victory in overtime in Game 4. He nonetheless scored most of his points in three overtime periods during the series, which was the gist of his response to the fan comment. Skip Bayless of ESPN even believed that there were moments in the series that Lin looked like the best player in the Rockets team, especially when shots were not falling for stars James Harden and Dwight Howard during the overtime, notes Yibada.

Jeremy Lin was also instrumental in giving the Rockets a chance in that series after he fired 21 points on 9 for 15 shooting in Game 5 of the series. Unfortunately, the series was best remembered when Damian Lillard made his mark in the playoffs after burying a buzzer-beating trey to end the series on the sixth game.

While it is too premature to say or even think that Jeremy Lin would be a better ball player with the Charlotte Hornets compared to his one-year stint with the Los Angeles Lakers during the past NBA season.

Jeremy Lin

But the huge number of supporters of the 26-year-old Harvard graduate really believes that a second coming of Linsanity is bound to come soon. Many believe that it would finally happen as the American-Taiwanese plays as a sixth man for the Charlotte Hornets.

It could be remembered that Jeremy Lin showcased his wares during a 17-game Linsanity run while playing for the New York Knicks during the 2011-12 NBA season. He came off the bench then as the Knicks were without star forward Carmelo Anthony who was out with an injury.

  1. Typical Houston fan… They get on Lin for messing up 1 or 2 plays

But give Harden and Howard a pass for no showing up most of that series

Just like they give their two stars a pass again this year.
