Jensen Ackles to Direct Third Episode of Supernatural Season 11; Will Be His Fifth Time to Helm an Episode of the Series Since Season 6

Season 11 of The CW’s hit cult series “Supernatural” is ready to hit TV screens later this year. Executive producer Jim Michaels confirms through his Twitter account that the show will premiere on October 7 and that main cast member Jensen Ackles, who plays Dean, will be at the helm of the third episode titled “The Bad Seed.” It is to become the fifth episode that Ackles will direct for the show. It is worth mentioning that this is the American actor’s first directorial episode after four seasons.

Season 11 is going to pick up just moments after Season 10’s cliffhanger and is rumored to focus more on the Winchester brothers trying to do what they do best – hunt down the newly unleashed Darkness. But before any of that could happen, the Darkness itself will possibly unbridle evil on earth committing murders, destruction, and total wrath. Writers of the show say that Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki have already settled so much into their roles, that writing their story is such a breeze. Reports say eight out of the 23 episodes of Season 11 are already completed.

Although spoilers have been sparse for the latest season, filming is speculated to start early this July and wrap by April next year. Ackles tweeted days ago that he’s flying to Vancouver, where the series is mostly filmed, for production. The 37-year-old actor adds that he’s already excited to start filming for the season. Showrunner Michaels also teased fans by posting a photo on Twitter saying that the production team is scouting for filming locations.

TvLine’s latest scoop details the show will see a new female character introduced in the season premiere and that the Winchester brothers are not going to like her presence. TvLine’s Micheal Ausellio describes the show’s newcomer, Amara, as a woman in her late 20s who possesses a seductive beauty but an acid tongue. Amara won’t have a good impression of Earth when she arrives, but that doesn’t mean she’s not here to stay.

The feisty character is rumored to have arrived on Earth when the Darkness was released during last season’s series finale tagging her as one of Darkness’ agents as she poses a threat to Earth. No actress has been identified to play the role yet, but fans can expect a lot of this femme fatale tormenting the Winchester duo all season long.

Season 10’s final episode titled “My Brother’s Keeper” left brothers Sam and Dean, who is still mourning Rudy’s death, in a helpless situation as they were left trapped in Impala as the Darkness surrounds them. The angel Castiel is also constantly fighting Rowena’s guard dog spell that compels him to kill the King of Hell and her own son Crowley so she can escape with the Book of the Damned. Safe to say, Crowley and Rowena’s relationship is not that of a typical mother-son bond.

More for Crowley this season, Enstarz reports that fans might get to see Crowley’s father anytime soon. Ruth Connell, who plays Crowley’s scheming mother Rowena, dishes that her character has more secrets up her sleeves, adding she has her own theories about the identity of Crowley’s father.

  1. It’s a shame his directing skills are no better than his acting skills. After faking that stupid affected deep voice all these years I’m surprised he even has the ability to yell, “ACTION!”

    1. I wish they would let Misha direct again. I thought he did a much better job. Jensen has alot of image problems.

    2. You such a jerk you don’t know any thing about Jensen or acting or directing so stop saying your stupid useless ideas about him Jensen so talent in so many things and evryone say his wonderful excellent director so shut the hell up

    3. OMG you made me laugh SO HARD!

I feel guilty tho cuz I love my Winchesters. Dean’s voice is sometimes fake sounding tho.

  2. Everyone has their own opinion, but the only reason we watch is because the storyline and acting are so great.if you don’t like the show why are you reading this item. (My pussy’s smarter than yours!)

  3. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE “SUPERNATURAL”! ITS BEEN MY FAVORITE SHOW SINCE DAY 1!!!!! I CAN’T WAIT TO SEE SEASON 11. CANT WAIT TO SEE ACKLES WORK……..I JUST CANNOT WAIT. BRING THEIR REAL DAD BACK PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!

  4. His fifth time directing WOW, I’m so proud the producers of the show trust so much in his talented skills, Jensen Ackles is pretty amazing as an actor and now I’m sure he will give us something epic, like he always does. Thanks for this article.

  5. @Maggie the Cat…..you know damn well the guy can act. You’re just another butthurt fan who has to badmouth him because you think he may be homophobic. Now I see how it starts when juvenile people who disagree with a famous person try to ruin their career because of an opinion. I honestly think the Internet has made human relations worse.

    1. You’re utterly insane. The homosexuals are RUINING this country and you’re accusing me of saying that I dislike this actor because he’s homophobic????

If he’s against f@gs getting married, then more power to him, but he is still a terrible, terrible actor.

Everything that’s said about you whacko SPN fans is true.

  6. Um. Just a quick correction on the FIRST paragraph of this article. Jensen directed the third episode of season 10. So no, it isn’t his first foray back in 4 seasons.
Awesome director, actor, and human being.
Maggie the Cat, you’re a homophobic moron and a troll. People like you need to be slapped. Do the world a favour and keep your closed-minded dirty disgusting opinions to yourself. Who do you think you are, Rush Limbaugh?!
    Shut it already.

    1. Is is true that Jensen is REALLY a Republican?! I always thought that was just gossip from Destiel people since Jensen doesn’t like it. He and his (lesbian) aunt are so close that I can’t imagine he would be a Republican.

Can someone please tell me for sure??? This has kinda got me upset.
