Many people including celebrities the world over have been outraged by the Pulse nightclub shooting in Orlando, Florida last month resulting in the death of more than 50 people and injuring more than 50 as well.
But since what is done is done, outrage can no longer bring back the lives of the victims. For triple threat celebrity Jennifer Lopez, it is better if she finds a way to make her work more appreciated by the victims of the senseless shooting. And she just did.
J-Lo has released a new song entitled “Love Make the World Go Round” in collaboration with composer Lin-Manuel Miranda. It is a track penned to benefit victims of the Orlando mass shooting.
Miranda gave the song his famous rhymes through tightly-coiled stanzas while the “Booty” singer lent her vocals to the song for its tropical-inflected hook, reports the Entertainment Weekly.
The songwriter has been teasing the tune of “Love Make the World Go Round” since the Fourth of July when he shared behind-the-scenes clip of him and Lopez recording the song.
Sales proceeds of the track shall go to the Hispanic Federation’s Proyecto Somos Orlando, an organization that will channel the money and provide long-term needs for mental health services that are culturally competent and bilingual.
The idea is to prevent a further incident similar to Orlando where the shooter just simply lost it and appeared to be deranged to do all that senseless shooting with a powerful firearm.
The new track will officially be released before Miranda’s final performance with “Hamilton,” the critically-acclaimed Broadway musical he wrote and starred in, reaping 11 Tony Awards last month including the Best Musical.
Looks hot on the set of TV series
Jennifer Lopez was also seen recently at the New York City set of “Shades of Blue,” a new crime drama series on NBC.
The 46-year-old triple threat star looks fit in a tight tank top as she tries to cool down with a mini fan and an iced drink, reports the Daily Mail.
The temperatures in New York City were really sweltering but J-Lo managed to stay cool and still looking hot at the same time. She is about to mark her 47th birthday later this month.
Lopez looked stunning wearing a decidedly warm outfit in character. She was donning a knitted turtle-neck that showcased her curves, which she paired with pleated gray work trousers.
She was also wearing a very high-heeled black boots while her honey brown locks were shoulder length and styled into curls with a side parting. She looks fresh too as her make-up was expertly applied to look both natural and fit for the small screen.
J-Lo stars in “Shades of Blue” on NBC opposite Ray Liotta as an undercover cop who struggles to balance her work and family lives.
She plays NYPD detective Harlee Santos, who is forced to work for the FBI’s anti-corruption task force while dealing with her own financial and personal problems.
Clinton has her vote
Though she is not the type who likes to talk about her political views, Jennifer Lopez showed up in the fundraiser event for presumptive Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton on June 20 that also give everyone an idea as to who she will be rooting for in the US presidential elections in November.
J-Lo was among the many A-listers who attended the fundraiser held at the New York City home of Harvey Weinstein, also a known entertainment heavyweight.
Among the stars who were spotted included Leonardo DiCaprio, Sarah Jessica Parker and husband Matthew Broderick, Martha Stewart, Bethenny Frankel, Candice Bergen, and celebrity fashion designer Vera Wang.
The “Let’s Get Loud” singer has not said anything about endorsing Hillary Clinton but she included one of Clinton’s speeches in the music video of her latest single “Ain’t Your Mama.”
