Jennifer Lawrence has recently given a statement about “X-Men: Apocalypse”, stating that the new film is going to be her last work in the series so far. Previously, the character of Mystique was handled by Rebecca Romijn, who played her in “X-Men: First Class” when it came out in 2011. After that production, Jennifer Lawrence took over the character, and now she’s told MTV News in an interview that she’s planning “X-Men: Apocalypse” to be her last one as Mystique.
The new installment in the franchise is supposed to come out in 2016, and it’s a direct sequel to “X-Men: Days of Future Past” which came out in 2016. With it, the trilogy will be completed, and there will be no more films in the current line. Of course, this means nothing for the future – we could easily get another trilogy or another line of “X-Men” movies altogether, as the series has proven to be incredibly popular so far, and its producers would make a big mistake if they let it go just like that.
In the new film, we’re going to see Bryan Singer in the role of the main villain, the first human to mutate who was born more than 5,000 years ago. In “Age of Apocalypse”, he comes out as the new ruler of a darker version of the Earth, one where mutants have enslaved all of humanity and are keeping humans under control.
The villain in the film version of the story is going to be played by Oscar Isaac, and the film is going to be set in the 1980s. There are strong expectations for it from all parts of the fan base, and there are all reasons to believe that “X-Men: Apocalypse” is going to be a delightful experience when it comes out in about one year.
Other than those confirmed actors, we’ll reportedly also see Michael Fassbender and James McAvoy as Magneto and Professor X respectively, and Sophie Turner will also be joining the cast as a younger version of Jean Grey. Last but not least, we have Alexandra Shipp portraying Storm’s younger self, with the two replacing Famke Janssen and Halle Berry who played the characters in previous films in the series.
So far, it seems like Jennifer Lawrence has really made up her mind and won’t be returning to the franchise – news that has been a bit disappointing to some of her fans, as many people enjoyed her work in “X-Men”. Hopefully, if the series move on without her, the producers will find a worthy replacement who also captures the character in the same way and manages to get the audience as excited.

I think in the cartoon about Apocalypse Mystique is the one who helps Apocalypse rise to power and then she dies…So probably that’s what is going to happen…
