When the lists of Oscar nominations were published, most of the names were not very surprising to people, both fans and critics alike. However, something that did get pointed out by many, was the absence of Jennifer Aniston from the “Best Actress” category. While many were of the opinion that the actress definitely deserved at least a nomination, this did not end up happening. Her performance in “Cake” led fans to believe that she’ll be one of the most promising nominees, and her complete absence from the list came as a bit of a shock to some.
And now, it’s been announced that Aniston is going to actually be presenting the Oscars, despite the recent debacle. It seems that Aniston wasn’t very deeply affected by getting skipped for the Oscar nominations, and she holds no hard feelings – in fact, she’s apparently ready to take up her job as a presenter for the awards.
She won’t be alone on the stage, as other presenters that have been confirmed so far include David Oyelowo (who also didn’t get nominated despite high expectations after his performance as Martin Luther King Jr.), Sienna Miller, Chris Pratt, Chris Rock and more. John Travolta has also been stated to be coming up on the stage to present the awards, and hopefully, this time he’ll avoid making the headlines for a comical reason like last year, when he introduced Idina Menzel as “Adele Dazeem”, creating much amusement in online communities.
Some publications have actually poked fun at Travolta’s confirmation, stating that it would be hilarious if he was asked to pronounce the name of Benedict Cumberbatch, or someone with an equally complex name. For what it’s worth though, Travolta seems to be taking the jokes in stride and admits that’s he made a mistake, but then again – everyone does at some point in their lives, and he wasn’t taking the incident very hard.
Meanwhile, some of Aniston’s fans have been pointing out that the decision the actress made by accepting the invitation to present at the Oscars speaks very highly of her character, as not many people would be so eager to come up on stage for the very event that recently snubbed them. Aniston’s absence from the list of nominees was very widely publicized, so the actress must have obviously noticed the huge tone of negativity that surrounded the event, at least from the side of her fans, so she definitely does have a strong character. And knowing her charismatic personality, we can only expect her to do her job as a presenter with a lot of style and professionalism, much like she’s been performing in her career.
