It’s been a while since we’ve seen Jennifer Aniston in a TV show role – seven years, to be exact – and it looks like the actress’ fans aren’t the only ones missing the good old days. In a recent interview with “Variety”, Aniston revealed that she’s been considering making a comeback to her work in TV, and she actually sounds quite inspired and enthusiastic about the idea, judging from some statements she made in the interview.
According to Aniston, she’s mainly interested in TV at the moment as it’s the most lucrative area for an actor to work in, and she wants to involve herself as much as possible with all the interesting stories unfolding in the various shows that are popular right now.
From the overall tone of her statements, it sounded like the actress is hoping for a longer-term project that will allow her to truly develop a character all the way and explore the finer nuances of a new personality. Knowing how well received some of her more prominent roles have been, we expect this to be received very well by all of her fans, plus she has a great opportunity to draw in lots of new people to her base of followers.
After all, a 7-year hiatus from acting on TV is no small pause, and things have changed significantly over the years. The medium has evolved a lot, and many studios have been exploring the format in extreme detail lately, developing various interesting ideas that nobody would have considered in the era of “Friends”.
That makes it a perfectly valid idea for a veteran like Aniston to want to give the industry a second chance, and there is definitely a lot of opportunity for her to show off her skills even more today. There are lots of successful productions running at the moment, plus setting up a new one wouldn’t be too difficult if someone like Aniston showed interest in participating.
Those who enjoy watching Aniston in movies as opposed to television shows should have nothing to worry about, on the other hand, as the actress also addressed that issue in her interview. She claimed that working on films brings her a lot of joy as well and it’s not something she would want to leave behind, so it doesn’t look like her film career is in any real danger of being put on hold at the moment.
Is she going to manage balancing the two well enough though? This has been a challenge for many actors, and while some handle it more or less fine, it’s not hard to see how working like that could be a real struggle. Hopefully this isn’t going to lead to a reduction in the quality of Aniston’s acting, as she’s one of the more capable performers on the screen right now.
What specific roles is the actress considering? She wasn’t very clear about that in her interview, and there’s probably a good reason why – it’s easy to imagine a whole storm of ideas in her head right now, and she’ll probably need some time to sort out her desires.
Plus, it of course also depends on the current state of the industry and what shows will be available for her to hop on. It’s very likely that someone like Aniston is going to have an easy time finding work in quality productions, and she probably won’t even have to look hard to get good offers, but at the same time she might have some specific ideas in mind with regards to the kind of role she wants to perform.
