Damon explained that over the years, so many people have asked him about a comeback to the franchise and Director Paul Greengass told the same thing to him. So he had to give it to them if only to appease and let the issue die down.
But he returned to the franchise because he knew there is always a new territory to explore with the Bourne character, considering that the original Bourne trilogy was very much embedded in the political climate of the time.
He recalled that with “The Bourne Ultimatum,” the movie was about the war on terror and they had put the three major set pieces in London, Madrid, and New York because, at that time, those were the places that had been directly affected by terrorism.
He said that “Jason Bourne” is set in the post-financial crisis and post-modern world with the refugee crisis so the movie starts at the Macedonia-Greece border and go into Athens for an austerity riot.
Damon went on to say that the movie would then move to London before they end up in the sewer beneath Las Vegas, which is ironic in a way because it involves fighting to the death while rolling around in the detritus of modern-day capitalism.
In reference to the statement in this article”Of course, Damon is out of the running since he is an American and only actors born in the UK are being cast in the role of James Bond”. Of the six actors to play Bond two were not born in the UK George Lazenby was born in Goulburn, New South Wales, Australia and Pierce Brosnan was born in Drogheda, County Louth, Ireland.
