Director David Ayer and the cast members of the DC Comics villains-turned-heroes movie “Suicide Squad” had a table read on April 8 with the addition of three new actors but surprisingly, Jared Leto, who is playing the role of the Joker, was nowhere to be found.
Well, in addition to Jared Leto, Scott Eastwood was also not around. Scott plays the role of Steve Trevor, who is the love interest of Wonder Woman in the DC Comics version of the “Suicide Squad,” reports Yahoo! Celebrity.
Rumors now have it that Jared Leto’s absence during the table read was intentional because he does not want to have to reveal his complete new look to fans or in public yet.
That was the idea of the Oscar-winning actor but Director David Ayer made up for his absence in the table read by simply posting on his Twitter account an image of Jared Leto with a green hair.
The image is the closest that Jared Leto appears to be like the Joker even though he has yet to put the make-up on. But Jared’s pose on the image posted by David Ayer is similar to the iconic pose of the Clown of Prince on the cover of DC Comics “Killing Joke” released in June 1988 and written by Alan Moore and Brian Bolland.
Filming begins
Due to hit theaters on August 5, 2016, filming for “Suicide Squad” begins this month.
Director Ayer announced the three new cast members to the movie including Ike Barinholtz of “The Mindy Project,” Jim Parrack of “True Blood,” and Adam Beach of “Flags of our Fathers.”
Reports indicate that Barinholtz will play the role of Hugo Strange, Parrack is cast as Deathstroke, and Beach is set to play the villain role of Ravan.
The three new cast members were part of the table read on Wednesday along with the other confirmed cast of “Suicide Squad.”
Ayer posted on his Twitter account an image of the “Suicide Squad” cast members including himself and the three new additions. Also around were the previously confirmed cast including Will Smith as Deadshot, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbae as Killer Croc, Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, Jai Courtney as Captain Boomerang, Cara Delevingne as Enchantress, Joel Kinnaman, as Rick Flagg, and Viola Davis as Amanda Waller.
The making of a blockbuster
“Suicide Squad” has all the makings of a true blockbuster so it was kind of easy for Jared Leto to decide on his makeover and be ready to take on the meaty part of the Joker in the movie.
Based on DC Comics, “Suicide Squad” is a task force of supervillains that were imprisoned by the government upon apprehension of course by the DC superheroes.
A secret government agency headed by Amanda Waller formed the task force to initiate a black ops mission in exchange for clemency.
Jared Leto has had 22 film credits to his name starting with the movie “How to Make an American Quilt” back in 1995 until the “Dallas Buyers Club” in 2013 acting as a transgender where he won an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for it in 2014.
He only had 22 movies in the last 20 years because he is very selective with his films so the “Suicide Squad is really good to be considered by the actor.
