Japanese Gamers Rank ‘Final Fantasy XV’ Second in List of Most Wanted Video Games

Japanese gamers have made their voices heard on which upcoming games they wanted to play the most.

Famitsu, a Japanese gaming website, has updated its charts as of June 21 showing the top 30 games most wanted by users and the role-playing game “Final Fantasy XV” from Square Enix has made it to No. 2 spot behind the front-running “Fire Emblem If” from Nintendo.

Gaming Bolt opines that the Famitsu list only indicates that the Japanese fans and gamers have a slightly different set of interests in video games compared to their American counterparts because as can be seen from the list, “Batman: Arkham Knight” on the PlayStation 4 and “Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain” on the PlayStation 3 are near the bottom. But “Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain” on the PlayStation 4 is at No. 7 spot.

“Final Fantasy XV” already has a demo available for a while through its “Episode Duscae 2.0” as part of the “Final Fantasy Type-O HD” video game and as shown by Square Enix at the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) 2015 held last month, the game has a brand new boss for gamers to try to take down.

While Square Enix has yet to specify a release date of “Final Fantasy XV” on the PlayStation 4 and the Xbox One, speculations are rife that it would happen later this year.

New ‘Final Fantasy XV’ source engine

On June 4, Square Enix released a new tech demo for Luminous Studio 1.5, the source engine where the developer is building the “Final Fantasy XV” on.

The engine has immensely contributed in giving the video game dynamic visuals, physically-based lighting systems, global illumination, skin penetrating light, realistic car paint, and a whole bunch of other things that sound really mundane when one is reading them but nonetheless look very impressive on the screen, details Gamespot.

The release of the new engine has also updated “Episode Duscae 2.0,” which accordingly, now has a variety of technical changes, visual improvements, and other tweaks, which are all based on gamer feedbacks on the first edition of the gameplay demo.

After the gameplay demo

Square Enix recently reported that it has shipped over one million copies of “Final Fantasy Type-O HD,’ its latest entry to the franchise, and based on the optional survey that came with the game, the developer found out that 82% of those who purchased it actually wanted to play “Episode Duscae 2.0.”

“Episode Duscae 2.0” is the gameplay demo for “Final Fantasy XV” and the fact that gamers who purchased “Final Fantasy Type-O HD” did so to play the demo excites Square Enix all the more for its video game set to be release to the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
